Serie A Week 4 referees

The referees for Serie A Week 4 have been announced as Daniele Doveri will officiate the Derby della Madonnina between Milan and Inter.

This is Doveri’s biggest game since the Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus in May 2015.

He has overseen 12 wins, three draws and one defeat in Serie A matches involving Milan, as opposed to a record of just four victories in 15 Inter games.

The VAR at San Siro will be Massimiliano Irrati, who was the man in the middle for the first Derby d’Italia of last season.

Battle lines & battle scars

Football Italia’s Chief Correspondent Richard Hall looks back on an incredible Week 3 in Serie A, with a war of words between Inter and Juventus erupting, plus Bologna pulling off a mighty comeback.

Titles are not won after just three matches, but battle lines are certainly drawn. Antonio Conte went ahead and fired the first shots this weekend as his Inter team moved top of Serie A, with Juventus only drawing at Fiorentina. That gave credence to all those who expected a title race as Napoli also gained three points. Questions are already being asked of the Old Lady and the League is holding its breath, along with the sportsbooks that made them heavy favourites again this season.

Bologna squad visit Mihajlovic

Bologna stopped the team bus outside Sinisa Mihajlovic’s hospital room and he waved from the window while undergoing chemotherapy.

The Coach had been given special permission to be on the touchline for their first two Serie A games of the season against Verona and SPAL.

However, he just started the second course of chemotherapy for his leukaemia treatment and was therefore only able to communicate with the squad and staff via telephone.

Corini: 'Brescia deserved more'

Eugenio Corini denies Brescia “collapsed” after Daniele Dessena’s red card in a 4-3 defeat to Bologna. “We didn’t deserve to lose.”

The Rondinelle had been 3-1 up and coasting when Dessena received his second yellow card for a foolish and entirely unnecessary dive.

“We played a top qualify first half, developing our forward moves and scoring three goals,” Corini told Sky Sport Italia.

The Rossoblu turned this game around at the Stadio Rigamonti after Daniele Dessena was sent off for simulation.

“Undoubtedly being against 10 men helped us and the red card was decisive in the flow of the match,” Palacio told Sky Sport Italia.
