Pastore out for Bologna

Roma midfielder Javier Pastore is expected to miss the trip to Bologna, but he’s battling to be ready for the derby against Lazio.

The Argentinian international is struggling with a calf injury, and he wasn’t in the squad for the Champions League game with Real Madrid last night.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that he’ll also miss this weekend’s game, and Pastore is unlikely to start the midweek Frosinone match.

Report: Bologna stick with Inzaghi

Bologna have reportedly given Coach Filippo Inzaghi a vote of confidence after their poor start to the season.

Inzaghi already seemed to be under pressure at Bologna, having led them to just a point from their opening three games in Serie A, none of which yielded any goals.

Former Fiorentina and Italy boss Cesare Prandelli was also in the stands during the Rossoblu’s 1-0 defeat to Genoa last weekend, fuelling more speculation about a change at the helm.

Douglas Costa banned for four games

Juventus winger Douglas Costa has been given a four-match Serie A ban for his elbow, attempted headbutt and spit on Federico Di Francesco.

The Brazilian was sent off during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo at the Juventus Stadium.

He was caught on camera in a lengthy tussle with Di Francesco – the son of Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco – which included trying to lash out an elbow, then an attempted headbutt.

As the pair continued to argue off the ball, Douglas Costa spat at his opponent from point-blank range.

Prandelli shadow over SuperPippo

Cesare Prandelli was in the stands for Bologna’s 1-0 defeat to Genoa today, fuelling rumours he’ll replace Pippo Inzaghi.

The Felsinei have just one point from four games, but above all have failed to score a single goal.

They are in penultimate place and the only reason they aren’t currently joint last is that Chievo were docked three points for false accounting.

Inzaghi: 'Not worried for Bologna'

Pippo Inzaghi is not “worried” after another Bologna defeat to Genoa after reports emerge he could be fired.

The Rossoblu have one point from four games, but above all are yet to score a single goal, leading to rumours Inzaghi’s job is at risk.

“I have to look at the performance more than the result and unfortunately it’s the fourth game in which our goalkeeper hasn’t made a save. Every shot goes in,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Bologna defender out for a month

Bad news for Bologna, as Sweden international Filip Helander has been ruled out for a month with a knee ligament injury.

The defender sprained his right knee during a training session on Thursday and tests showed there is also some damage to the collateral lateral ligament.

He is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks.

It’s a blow for Bologna, who are already without Rodrigo Palacio for several weeks.

Handanovic underappreciated

Everyone at Inter is up for debate at the moment and Richard Hall notes that includes goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

“As for Samir Handanovic, I'd start with an appointment to get his eyes tested. He needs to work on his mentality to stay focused for 90 minutes." (Sandro Mazzola)
