Spezia must play home games in Cesena

Spezia will have to play at least their first few Serie A home games in Cesena, because the Stadio Picco requires restructuring work.

This will be their first ever top flight campaign after winning the Serie B promotion play-offs.

The Lega Serie A have announced that the Stadio Alberto Picco does not meet regulations, so needs to undergo work before it can host league games.

Instead, Spezia will be hosted by the Stadio Dino Manuzzi in Cesena.

The genuine cost of Victor Osimhen’s transfer from Lille to Napoli has been calculated at €47.5m, with some accounting techniques used to reach €80m, claim the Corriere dello Sport.

Italian sources were consistent in pointing to the transfer fee as €50m plus difficult to achieve bonuses.

Ultras march descends into violence

Ultras from many Serie A and B clubs, plus representatives of Far-Right political parties, staged a protest in Rome that descended into violence.

The groups came together to protest the on-going lockdown measures and the way that the Italian Government has dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic.

It came just days after another smaller protest from the so-called Gillet Arancioni (Orange Gillet) group, who again were complaining that the country has not yet been completely opened up.

Giampaolo: 'No Milan short-cuts'

Marco Giampaolo is not concerned after Milan’s 0-0 draw with Serie C side Cesena. “I always said it’d take time, I am not looking for short-cuts.”

The Rossoneri had practically the same line-up as last season in their final friendly of the summer.

“Clearly we can’t be very sharp right now, but we took that into account,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Milan disappoint in Cesena

Leo Duarte made his Milan debut off the bench, but the Rossoneri played out a disappointing 0-0 draw with Serie C side Cesena.

Marco Giampaolo again used Suso as a trequartista, this time behind Samu Castillejo and Krzysztof Piatek, as Rafael Leao was carrying a slight injury. Ismael Bennacer and Rade Krunic didn’t make the trip, while Lucas Paqueta was on the bench.

Despite the summer friendly status, Cesena were quite aggressive in their tackling and pressing game, seeing a goal disallowed for Emanuele Valeri’s offside position.

Chievo three-point penalty confirmed

Chievo’s three-point penalty has been confirmed in the current Serie A season after separate appeals to reduce or increase it.

The penalty was inflicted over the summer for false accounting, as Chievo are accused of trading players with Cesena – now bankrupt – at vastly inflated prices to help balance the books.

Chievo had appealed to have the punishment reduced, while Crotone put forward their own request to increase it.

Today the Corte Federale d’Appello ruled that the three-point deduction would remain.
