Liverpool swoop for Napoli target Tsimikas

Napoli have reportedly been in talks with Olympiakos for Konstantinos Tsimikas for at least eight months, but seem to be losing out to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old left-back has long been a target for the Stadio San Paolo side, with a transfer already close in January.

However, the deal was never completed and it looks now as if it won’t be, because English reports suggest Liverpool have agreed a fee.

Multiple sources maintain there will be a medical next week to complete the €13m swoop.

Koulibaly offers not enough for Napoli

Kalidou Koulibaly is discussing a contract extension with Napoli, as the offers from Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United aren’t up to scratch.

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, President Aurelio De Laurentiis proved he was ready to listen when approaches arrived from the Premier League.

He even lowered his asking price to €75-80m, from the original in excess of €100m, in the post-COVID transfer era.

Wages put Napoli-Osimhen back in doubt

Napoli are hesitant to increase the salary already agreed with Victor Osimhen’s previous agent, as the €80m transfer from Lille is back in doubt again.

This is one of those sagas that could go on for most of the summer, as it has already dragged on for weeks.

First Osimhen was unconvinced by the move and felt under pressure from his agent, who had negotiated an excellent commission package for himself.

The Nigerian striker then sacked his representative and brought in a new intermediary, named in the Italian media as William D’Avila.

Man City pushing for Koulibaly

According to Calciomercato.it, Pep Guardiola is determined to bring the Senegal international to the Etihad for next season.

Liverpool had long been linked, but Sky Sports UK claimed today that they are cutting down their transfer budget, as already seen by pulling out of the Timo Werner bidding war with Chelsea.

Mixed reports on Liverpool and Koulibaly

There are very different reports coming out of England on Liverpool interest in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

Today’s edition of The Sun maintains that the Premier League champions are ‘confident’ of signing the Senegal international, whose price-tag has been set at €100m.

They would try to include Dejan Lovren as part of an exchange deal to lower the cost of the operation.

On the other hand, Sky Sports UK insist the Reds are not interested in making the purchase, as he is considered too expensive.
