Ancelotti: 'Napoli, take responsibility'

Carlo Ancelotti admits Napoli have serious problems and the crisis “is going on too long now. I take responsibility, but the players must feel responsible too.”

The Partenopei have just four draws from their last six Serie A games, and it’s the first time Ancelotti has gone on a six-match winless streak in the top five leagues since December 2010, when he was at Chelsea.

ADL plans summer overhaul

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is planning a major overhaul of the squad next summer, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The club has been in the eye of the storm recently, as the players defied orders to return to a President-sanctioned training retreat at Castelvolturno following the 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly backed the players, but he and his staff returned to the 'ritiro'. This led to De Laurentiis fining all the players.

Bidding war for Kulusevski

Inter and Juventus are reportedly ready to do battle over Atalanta’s Dejan Kulusevski, on loan at Parma, whilst Liverpool are sending scouts to observe the 19-year-old.

The Swedish winger has certainly caught the eye this season, guiding the Gialloblu to eighth in the Serie A table.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that it’s the Nerazzurri that hold the lead in the race to sign the player, as Antonio Conte has repeatedly demanded for reinforcements in midfield.

ADL holds summit with Napoli stars

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis met with the squad yesterday and reportedly explained to Allan, Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens why they were fined more.

The Partenopei have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks, with the players refusing to go back to the training retreat following a 1-1 draw against RB Salzburg in the Champions League.

The players decided to go home, with the backing of Carlo Ancelotti.

Koulibaly: 'Satisfied with draw'

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly was happy to take a draw against Liverpool, but admitted they “could have done more to win the game.”

The Partenopei are the only team to defeat Liverpool this season and after the 1-1 draw at Anfield on Tuesday, they are unbeaten in two matches against the reigning European champions.

“We knew it would be a very difficult match,” he told UEFA.com after the match. “They haven’t lost in a very long time."

Napoli not dead yet

The rugged performance to hold out at Anfield was not that of a team in crisis, argues Giancarlo Rinaldi, but consistency has always been Napoli’s problem.

They were queueing up to deliver the last rites before this match. It was, we were told, the end of an era for this squad, its stars and probably its coach. But, at what appeared their darkest hour, Napoli showed reserves of character and quality which suggested their demise might not be as imminent as some had supposed. There’s life in the old club yet.

Meret: 'Napoli humility in Liverpool'

Alex Meret praised Napoli teamwork and “humility” to earn a 1-1 draw away to Champions League holders Liverpool.

The goalkeeper barely had a save to make, conceding a Dejan Lovren header from a corner, although his one fumble did force Kalidou Koulibaly into a goal-line clearance.

“It was a very difficult night, they pushed for 90 minutes, but we showed great humility and played the game we needed to in the circumstances,” the shot-stopper told Sky Sport Italia.

Klopp: 'Napoli closed the centre'

Jurgen Klopp admits Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical adjustments made life difficult for Liverpool. “We were not brilliant, but we put pressure on.”

Dries Mertens had opened the scoring from a tight angle, but Dejan Lovren nodded in a corner for the 1-1 Champions League draw at Anfield.

This means Liverpool still have a one-point lead at the top of the group, but Napoli’s final game is with Genk, whereas the reigning champions must travel to RB Salzburg.
