Sturaro: Don't care about €18m fee

Genoa midfielder Stefano Sturaro has insisted that he ‘doesn’t care’ about the frenzy caused by his €18m return from Juventus.

Genoa’s outlay for Sturaro raised many eyebrows after it emerged they had agreed to pay €16.5m to turn their €1.5m loan deal permanent, despite the 25-year-old not having made an appearance all season.

“The talk doesn’t bother me,” he told reporters.

Genoa: Napoli lost Piatek, Romero...

Genoa’s sporting director claims Napoli took too long to finalise a deal for Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, while Cristian Romero is ‘very close’ to Juventus.

Piatek has gone on to make an instant impact for Milan since arriving from Genoa in January, but Mario Donatelli suggested the Pole was closer to Napoli at one stage.

“In hindsight we can say a lot of things, but Genoa made a great profit and we must congratulate President Preziosi for finding him,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Perinetti: 'Piatek now worth €80m'

Krzysztof Piatek was sold to Milan for €35m last month, but Genoa director Giorgio Perinetti admits “he’s now worth €70-80m.”

The 23-year-old Polish striker was practically unknown when the Grifone paid €4.5m to get him from Cracovia Krakow in July 2018, but he has scored an astonishing 25 goals in 26 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

That includes six goals in just five Rossoneri starts, bagging another brace in Saturday’s 3-1 win away to Atalanta.

Piatek what Milan were missing

Krzysztof Piatek is not just a classy finisher, explains Sam Wilson, but brings a new dimension to Milan with his movement, pace and aerial ability.

Milan have lacked a true quality striker over the past five and a half seasons in which the club failed to qualify for the Champions League. The most goals scored by a single Milan player in a season since 2012-13 is 20 – the number netted by Colombian Carlos Bacca in his debut season with the club. Aside from that, in the 2014-15 season, Jeremy Menez had 16 and for the past two seasons their top scorer managed only 14 goals.

Inzaghi: 'Lazio deserved more'

Simone Inzaghi maintains Lazio “deserved more, but if you don’t kill games off, anything can happen” after a 2-1 defeat to Genoa.

The Aquile had taken the lead at Marassi through Milan Badelj, but a lucky ricochet off Antonio Sanabria and last-gasp Domenico Criscito daisy-cutter turned it around.

“We are missing many players at the moment, but I said before it should not be an alibi and we won’t use it now,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
