Genoa go for Colombian midfielder

Genoa are in advanced talks with Atletico Huila for Colombian midfielder Kevin Agudelo.

According to Opanoticias.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the deal could be done within days for €2.5m, representing 70 per cent of his contract.

Atletico Huila President Juan Carlos Patarroyo confirmed they had negotiations with Genoa, but that other clubs were also interested.

A meeting has been set for Monday to push the situation forward.

Genoa beat Lyon in thriller

Genoa completed an extraordinary comeback from 3-1 down to beat Olympique Lyonnais 4-3 in a pre-season friendly with Christian Kouame’s acrobatic volley.

The Grifone are aiming high in their pre-season friendlies by facing a Lyon side that finished third in Ligue 1 last term.

Tiago Mendes put the French outfit in front after just 11 minutes by pouncing on Cristian Romero’s misplaced pass and beating Jandrei despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to it.

Official: Verona sign Veloso

Hellas Verona have officially signed Miguel Veloso to a one-year contract, as he was a free agent after his Genoa experience.

The 33-year-old Portuguese midfielder has reunited with former Genoa Coach Ivan Juric at the Stadio Bentegodi.

He has over 100 Serie A appearances under his belt for Genoa, having also played for Sporting CP and Dynamo Kiev.

Veloso signed a contract with newly-promoted Verona to June 2020.

Genoa swoop for Amione

Genoa are reportedly on the verge of snapping up 17-year-old Belgrano defender Bruno Amione for €5m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal is in the closing stages for the teenage Belgrano youth product.

He is a centre-back in the mould of Cristian Romero, confirming Genoa’s excellent scouting work in Argentina.

Amione recently won the Under-17 South American Cup with Argentina, but is recovering from a fractured metatarsal in his right foot.

Official: Verona sign Gunter

Hellas Verona have officially signed defender Koray Gunter from Genoa, on loan with option to buy and counter-option.

The centre-back turns 25 next month and joined Genoa from Galatasaray as a free agent last summer.

He is reunited with former Grifone Coach Ivan Juric at Verona for this season.

Hellas have an option to buy, but Genoa also retain a counter-option in case they want to bring the German of Turkish descent back to Marassi.

Official: Benfica postpone Perin move

Benfica released a statement confirming Mattia Perin failed a medical, but will return to Juventus for treatment and move only in four months’ time.

The goalkeeper was all set to complete the €15m transfer this evening, but issues were flagged up in his medical tests.

A statement from the Portuguese club has confirmed the deal isn’t off, but has been postponed by four months, the time it’s expected to take for his full recovery.

Rog ready for Cagliari transfer

Marko Rog is on the verge of a Cagliari transfer, on loan with obligation to buy for a total €15m, so Eljif Elmas can have his Napoli medical on Saturday.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Sardinians have agreed basic terms with Napoli for Rog, who had also been targeted by Genoa and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Croatia international is set to move on loan for €2m and an obligation to buy for a further €13m in June 2020.

Another Pinamonti hat-trick for Genoa

Andrea Pinamonti scored his second hat-trick in as many friendly outings for Genoa, as they crushed Wacker Innsbruck 7-0.

The 20-year-old former Inter striker was again on song with three goals, while Goran Pandev suggests he is really growing into the new deeper midfield role.

Andrea Favilli found the net, then went off with a muscular injury, while Antonio Sanabria was also on target.

Perin ready for Benfica move

Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin will complete the €15m move to Benfica over the next few days, according to multiple reports.

The former Genoa shot-stopper rarely managed to get playing time in Turin and would receive even less attention after the return of Gianluigi Buffon.

He had wanted to remain in Italy, but has reportedly agreed to a €15m transfer to Portuguese club Benfica.

A medical and contract signing are expected over the next few days, with Juve giving the all-clear.
