Fans insult Insigne, Allan and Callejon

The Napoli training session has concluded, with Lorenzo Insigne, Allan and Jose Callejon singled out for particular abuse from angry fans, including veiled threats.

The situation has exploded over the last few days, as the club ordered a training retreat in the build-up to the Champions League match with RB Salzburg and Saturday’s Serie A game with Genoa.

However, the players rebelled and refused to go back to the hotel after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at the Stadio San Paolo.

Serie A applies for five subs

The FIGC has officially applied for Serie A clubs to be awarded five substitutions in matches.

Serie A sides are currently entitled to use up to three of their 12 subs during League games, but that could be about to change.

As per ANSA, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has sent an application to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), asking for an increase.

IFAB, not FIFA, is the governing body that controls the Laws of the Game in the sport of association football.

ADL: 'Ritiro not a punishment'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists he is not punishing the squad by sending them into ritiro, arguing he wants to get rid of “a lump in their throat”.

After the 2-1 loss to Roma at the Olimpico, Napoli have been sent to a punitive training camp for the whole week and Carlo Ancelotti will have the full attention of his players until they leave for the international break next week.

ADL 'puts Napoli in ritiro'

An unhappy Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly placed Napoli in ritiro for their next two games against Red Bull Salzburg and Genoa.

Results have been bleak for Napoli of late, with no wins in their last three matches, leaving them sixth in Serie A.

According to Corriere dello Sport, De Laurentiis has decided to punish the team by ordering them to go on a punitive training camp.

It would last until Sunday, meaning they will have to spend the entire week at the club’s training complex.
