Frey not on Genoa list

Genoa have claimed that Fiorentina have offered them the services of French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.

Whispers of a possible Marassi switch for the 'keeper have been getting louder, but the Rossoblu insist he is of no interest.

"The player is not part of our plans and he therefore will not be joining us," Genoa sporting director Stefano Capozucca told firenzeviola.it.

"It was the Viola club who offered us the player and not his agent," he revealed.

Konko set for Lazio talks

Lazio will meet with the agent of Genoa's Abdoulay Konko today as they look to replace Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The latter will officially join Juventus this week, after he had his Juve medical on Monday, and Konko is one option that Lazio are looking at.

"I met with Lazio about two weeks ago and absolutely nothing was agreed," agent Daniele Conte told Radio Sei.

"I have another meeting lined up with them in Milan later today," he added. "Let's see what happens."

Viviano confirms Genoa talks

Emiliano Viviano is owned by Inter, but unlikely to stay at San Siro. “Genoa are ready to negotiate,” said his agent.

The goalkeeper was part of a co-ownership deal with Bologna, but Inter took over his contract after an error in the paperwork during their auction.

With Julio Cesar already assured of the gloves, it seems certain Italy second choice Viviano will move on.

Criscito explains Napoli snub

Domenico Criscito has revealed the reasons why he chose to join Zenit rather than hometown club Napoli.

The defender completed his move to Russia yesterday despite the fact that Genoa had previously agreed a deal with the Azzurri.

"It would have been a dream for me to join Napoli," he told Sportitalia. "The San Paolo is one of the few stadiums that excites me.

"However, I didn't like some of the words of President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who said that I must join the club because the Azzurri jersey is a religion.

Genoa turn to Mantovani

Genoa will make a move for Andrea Mantovani of Chievo Verona once they sell Domenico Criscito over the summer.

The latter is expected to leave Marassi, with Zenit now favourites to land him after the Rossoblu initially did a deal with Napoli.

Genoa will thus need a replacement for the Italian international and Mantovani is a possible target.

The 26-year-old will be sold this summer if a bid of at least €5m is received for the former Torino player.

Gasperini to be handed Palacio

The chances of seeing Rodrigo Palacio join Inter have increased after Gian Piero Gasperini took charge at San Siro.

The Argentine was already being linked with a move to the Nerazzurri and Gasperini, who replaced Leonardo as boss on Friday, is unlikely to object to his arrival.

Gasperini coached the South American at Marassi before the tactician was substituted at the helm by Davide Ballardini in the past campaign.

Talks between both clubs are yet to be finalised though after Goran Pandev refused to be involved in the deal.

Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has revealed how much Domenico Criscito was sold to Zenit for, while he's made it clear that Rodrigo Palacio can leave too.

Criscito completed his switch to Russia today after the player failed to agree personal terms with Napoli.

"Criscito wanted to join Napoli, he really wanted to, but then there are economical aspects to take into consideration," Preziosi told Radio CRC.

"The boy wanted to leave and we decided to make him happy. We sold him to Zenit for €11m in the end."

Criscito: Napoli, Zenit or Inter

Domenico Criscito's agent denied the Napoli move collapsed due to money, but reports now push him from Zenit to Gian Piero Gasperini's Inter.

Genoa had agreed a fee with Napoli, but the failure to find a deal on personal terms saw the defender back on the market.

“A professional evaluates every aspect of a club before making a move,” agent Claudio Pasqualin told Radio Kiss Kiss.
