Ballardini: 'I have a few offers'

Davide Ballardini is not necessarily waiting for Genoa to propose a contract renewal. “I've have already received a few offers.”

The Coach was brought in mid-season to replace Gian Piero Gasperini and, after a difficult start, has taken them to mid-table.

President Enrico Preziosi said he will decide by April 20 whether the tactician will remain on the bench for next season.

“It's not yet time to discuss a renewal,” Ballardini told newspaper Secolo XIX.

New Genoa taking shape

Genoa are already making plans for next season after they were today linked with a new Coach, goalkeeper and midfielder.

Rossoblu chief Enrico Preziosi is expected to shake things up at Marassi following a problematic 2010-11.

He sacked boss Gian Piero Gasperini earlier in the campaign and replaced him with Davide Ballardini.

The latter, though, may not be confirmed in the job after the club were paired with former Catania boss Gianluca Atzori and Bologna's Alberto Malesani [pictured].

Genoa striker Alberto Paloschi is relishing the opportunity to captain the Italy Under-21s against Sweden.

The 21-year-old has really struggled with injury this season, scoring just twice in nine appearances in Serie A.

"I am happy," Paloschi said. "Ciro Ferrara called me as soon as he became Coach to know how I was.

"We have to win because the Under-21s have a great tradition.

"The Genoa fans expected more. Now we are safe, then we can entertain and try to make them happy.

Samp contact Gasperini

Reports in Liguria claim Sampdoria will sensationally try and appoint former Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini in the summer.

Alberto Cavasin is currently in charge on an interim basis and isn't expected to get the job permanently once the season ends.

Sampdoria are aware that with the sales of Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini, a cycle has come to an end at the club and a rebuilding phase is necessary.

“I can only speak highly of the President, as he brought me to an important club like Palermo in a beautiful city. I maintain I was respected and appreciated there.
