Official: Ranocchia joins Inter

Inter have made the signing of Andrea Ranocchia official following the completion of his move from Genoa.

The Nerazzurri filed the paperwork this morning after agreeing a deal before Christmas.

Inter already owned a 50 per cent stake in the Italy international centre-back and had planned to sign him outright at the end of the season.

However, once Walter Samuel suffered a serious knee injury, the club looked to hasten their efforts to bring in Ranocchia who emerged last season as one of the brightest defensive talents in Italy.

Preziosi laughs off Toni reports

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has laughed off reports linking Milan and Inter with a bid for Luca Toni in the January transfer window.

The veteran striker only joined Genoa in the summer and it is unlikely Preziosi would sanction the sale of another of his star players after agreeing to let Andrea Ranocchia join Inter.

Asked about the reports, Preziosi joked: "Yes, it's true. Toni is going to Milan just as Ronaldinho is going to Lumezzane."

The toy maker also rejected claims that he is among the parties interested in buying Roma.

'Ranocchia sale was intelligent'

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi thinks his decision to sell Andrea Ranocchia to Inter in January is "intelligent."

Inter have agreed to pay €12.5m for the remaining 50 per cent stake of the Italy international centre-back's contract.

The Nerazzurri had paid half that figure just to co-own Ranocchia in the summer, leaving Preziosi with a grin on his face.

Inter had initially planned to conclude the deal at the end of the season, but they brought talks forward after Walter Samuel suffered a serious knee injury.

Roma to swap Pizarro for Sculli?

The Giallorossi need a replacement for Julio Baptista, who is considering offers from England, Spain and further afield.

Sculli would fit the bill, as he is a versatile figure who can play in a trident attack, wide or deeper role.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Genoa are open to the trade, but only if it includes Pizarro.
