Genoa confirm 'international swoop'

President Enrico Preziosi said Genoa have signed “an overseas international who will be announced on Monday.”

The patron is known for achieving some surprising swoops on the transfer market and hints he has got another headline-grabbing deal.

“We have got a new player,” declared Preziosi on Radio Radio. “He is an overseas international, as in Italy the prices are too high.

“He will be announced on Monday. I completed the signing after an eight-hour negotiation.”

The rise of the Little Pharaoh

Linked with Milan and Inter, monitored by clubs in Spain and England, Stephan El Shaarawy is a wanted man. But who is he? Antonio Labbate explains

There was a general air of pessimism around the Italian national side last October. The painful memories of South Africa 2010 were still at the forefront of the nation's consciousness and Italy boss Cesare Prandelli admitted that the talent pool, containing the Azzurri stars of tomorrow, was small to say the least.

Criscito to discuss Napoli terms

Domenico Criscito's agent will reportedly talk with Napoli today after the San Paolo outfit agreed a deal with Genoa.

The Rossoblu have accepted the Azzurri's €6m offer for a share in the player and the move looks to be on.

However, Andrea D'Amico knew relatively little about the negotiations when he was contacted by TMW last night.

"I know that Napoli are interested in the player, but I've not spoken in depth with them about the possibility of a transfer," he stated.

Criscito to Napoli will take time

Genoa's Domenico Criscito won't start discussing personal terms with Napoli until at least the start of next week.

The Azzurri have agreed to sign a 50 per cent share in the Italian international for €6m after talks between the two outfits.

However, speaking to Radio CRC, the former Juventus player's agent insists the deal isn't done just yet.

"The fact that the two clubs have agreed is a good sign, but you need the acceptance of the player in order to conclude a transfer," Andrea D'Amico noted.

Lazio to keep Sculli

Lazio have reportedly agreed to take up their option to sign Giuseppe Sculli from Serie A rivals Genoa.

The striker joined the capital city club on loan in January and responded with two goals in 13 games.

That is understood to have been enough to convince the Stadio Olimpico outfit to keep hold of the former Under-21 international.

Lazio will hand over €3.5m to the Marassi outfit, as was agreed at the start of 2011, to keep the player in Rome.

Genoa maintain that Juraj Kucka will remain this summer, but they've already lined up his next club – and it is thought to be Milan.
