No Napoli interest in Criscito

Napoli are not one of the many clubs interested in Genoa and Italy full-back Domenico Criscito, his agent has revealed.

The Azzurri have been linked with the left-back in recent times, but Andrea D'Amico has rubbished that link.

"I actually spoke with Napoli only yesterday and this apparent interest was not even mentioned," D'Amico noted. "As a result, I feel I can dismiss the story.

"It's hard to predict what will happen in the transfer market, but I can say that there is some important interest in Criscito.

Paloschi and Palladino swap clubs

Parma's Alberto Paloschi and Luca Antonelli will join Genoa in January, with Raffaele Palladino and Francesco Modesto moving in the other direction.

Reports this evening are suggesting that terms were finalised earlier today in Rome, with the moves set to be made official on January 3.

Genoa will pay €7m to the Tardini outfit in total, a figure which sees them take total control of left-back Antonelli but only a half-share in striker Paloschi.

Palladino joins Parma in a co-ownership too, but Modesto's move is permanent.

Roma to swap Baptista for Sculli?

Roma are interested in exchanging Julio Baptista for Genoa striker Giuseppe Sculli, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Claudio Ranieri has been a long-term admirer of Sculli's ability to cover several roles in attack either in the middle or on the flanks.

He apparently made inquiries about signing the 29-year-old during the summer, only for Roma to pursue alternative targets.

Baptista is out of favour in the capital and Ranieri is keen to use him as collateral to bolster his options in the second half of the season.

Ranocchia spotted at Inter HQ

Despite Genoa's insistence they have “no intention of selling” Andrea Ranocchia, the player was spotted at Inter headquarters this evening.

There are reports from several sources that Italy defender Ranocchia, his agent Tullio Tinti and Genoa director of sport Stefano Capozzucca met with Inter Vice-President Rinaldo Ghelfi today.

Ranocchia is part of a co-ownership deal between the two clubs and is expected to make the transfer to San Siro in January rather than at the end of the season.

Genoa put brakes on Ranocchia exit

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has apparently put the brakes on any possibility of Andrea Ranocchia joining Inter during the January transfer window.

It's no secret that Inter would like to sign the Italy international centre-back on a permanent deal after purchasing 50 per cent of his rights in the summer.

Initially, Inter had planned to wait until the end of the season before bringing Ranocchia to the club. However, injury problems in defence have made bringing the deal forward imperative.

Official: Genoa derby snowed off

The Genoa derby has been called off after heavy snowfall on the city made play impossible.

The referee, Emidio Morganti, had a tour of the pitch at Marassi and made the decision to call off the game.

Sampdoria and Genoa were set to face off in the final Serie A match of 2010, but the conditions are too dangerous.

There is controversy, however, as there were no plastic sheets put down to protect the field throughout the day.

It is continuing to snow heavily in Genoa and the date when the derby will be played has not yet been confirmed.

Ballardini rages at media

Just a day before the Derby della Lanterna, Genoa Coach Davide Ballardini went on a rant at journalists in his Press conference.

The tactician came out for the planned event, but did not answer any questions, instead going through the problems with an article about his tenure.

“I read in a newspaper that the results have not improved since I arrived,” he said of his 10 points from six games since replacing Gian Piero Gasperini.

Genoa's Boateng blunder

He scores, he assists, he sings Michael Jackson classics in the dressing room. Antonio Labbate on how Genoa must be ruing their decision to let go of Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng

Of all the players Genoa signed during the summer, one has undoubtedly shined brighter than the rest. Unfortunately for the inconsistent port club, Kevin-Prince Boateng is turning out to be a revelation in the Rossoneri stripes of Milan rather than the Rossoblu halved shirt of the Grifone.

Acquired for a fee of around €5m from Portsmouth in the summer, Boateng was wastefully undervalued by the Marassi outfit. Then boss Gian Piero Gasperini seemed indifferent to his arrival and owner Enrico Preziosi declassified Boateng from a footballer to a mere transfer asset.

Inter close in on Ranocchia

Reports in the Italian media suggest Inter are very close to signing Andrea Ranocchia in the January transfer window.

Last night Inter's chief technical director Marco Branca said: "We will try and find a solution to the inconvenience presented by Walter Samuel's injury and nothing else, because if we are all healthy, then we are find as we are."

Inter have been repeatedly linked with Ranocchia in recent weeks, who they already co-own with Genoa.

Ballardini: 'Result was unfair'

Genoa “did not deserve to lose and this is an unfair result,” insisted Davide Ballardini after the defeat to Napoli.

The Grifone held possession for long periods, but could not finish their chances and were beaten by a Marek Hamsik header.

“We did not deserve to lose and this is an unfair result,” moaned the Coach of the 1-0 defeat.

“Genoa put in a good performance, but Napoli deserve compliments, as winning games like this means you are a top side.”
