Genoa close on Ajax's Schone

Genoa are in advanced talks for veteran Ajax midfielder Lasse Schone, claim sources in Italy and the Netherlands.

La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sportitalia are confident the deal is close to being done, as is Dutch newspaper VTBL.

Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli wanted an experienced figure in the middle of the park and had targeted Milan’s Lucas Biglia.

However, Schone is in the final term of his contract after seven years at Ajax and not guaranteed regular first team football this season.

Milan demand Biglia transfer fee

Milan have asked Genoa for at least €5-6m in order to sell Lucas Biglia, it’s reported, which could scupper the deal.

Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli has pin-pointed Biglia as the ideal replacement for Miguel Veloso in the middle of the park.

He could be released by Milan, largely because of his €3.5m per year salary, so there were suggestions he could terminate the contract by mutual consent.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Il Secolo XIX newspaper claim the Rossoneri would make a loss unless they picked up at least €5-6m transfer fee.
