Report: Coppa Italia on June 12-13

It’s reported that the Coppa Italia semi-finals have been set with Juventus-Milan on June 12 and Napoli-Inter on June 13, ahead of the Final on June 17.

The first legs of these semi-finals were already played in February, ending Milan 1-1 Juventus and Inter 0-1 Napoli.

With the Final in Rome on June 17, the clubs were concerned that there wasn’t enough time between the matches to get ready, especially after three months of lockdown.

'Inter should forfeit Napoli tie'

Ex-Inter general manager Ernesto Paolillo claims ‘I wouldn’t even name a team’ if the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia tie against Napoli goes ahead on June 13.

Multiple sources including Corriere dello Sport and Sport Mediaset report Inter are unhappy with the decision to schedule their semi-final second leg a day after Juventus and Milan face off in Turin.

Their alleged frustrations stem from the fact they are playing Sampdoria just seven days later, in one of the first four Serie A fixtures to take place as part of the season’s restart.

Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi has urged Serie A to follow La Liga by scheduling summer games late at night, while he’s ‘perplexed’ by the Coppa Italia plan.

The Lega Serie A will work out the calendar on Monday, with the tournament resuming on June 20, while the Coppa Italia is meant to have the semi-finals on June 13-14 and the Final on June 17.

“This is about ensuring health and safety, so I hope the issue of kick-off time won’t become a problem,” Tommasi told Rai Sport.

On this day: Inter win last trophy

On this day in 2011, Inter won their last piece of silverware, beating Palermo 3-1 in the Coppa Italia Final.

Scaroni: 'Coppa Italia schedule debatable'

Milan President Paolo Scaroni complains about the ‘debatable’ idea of playing the Coppa Italia semi-finals and Final from June 13-17.

It was announced today that Serie A will resume from June 20, but the Coppa Italia will try to reach a conclusion in the week leading up to that.

In theory, that means the second legs of the semi-finals Juventus-Milan and Napoli-Inter on June 13-14, with the Final in Rome on June 17.
