Sylvestre: 'I didn't forget anthem words'

Singer Sergio Sylvestre insists he didn’t forget the words to the Italian national anthem ahead of the Coppa Italia Final. ‘Emotion got the better of me.’

The winner of Italian talent show Amici was chosen to sing the anthem at the empty Stadio Olimpico before kick-off, with Napoli and Juventus on the pitch.

Singing acapella with no band or recorded background music, in a huge arena with no fans due to social distancing measures, he stopped at one point and seemed to forget the lyrics.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister hit out at Juventus after their Coppa Italia defeat to Napoli. ‘He can’t work miracles and do it all by himself.’

The Bianconeri were held to a 0-0 draw last night in Rome, largely thanks to Gigi Buffon heroics in goal, then lost the penalty shoot-out 4-2 before CR7 even got a chance to step up to the spot.

“What more can you do?” wrote Ronaldo’s sister Elma on Instagram.

Capello critical of Sarri choices

Fabio Capello is far from convinced by Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus choices in the Coppa Italia Final against Napoli, including the Cristiano Ronaldo penalty placement.

The game ended 0-0, with Napoli winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2, but CR7 never got to take his kick because he’d been scheduled last.

By that stage, the Partenopei had already converted four, while Paulo Dybala’s was saved and Danilo fired over the bar.

After his spot-kick, Politano was seen putting his finger to his lips in a ‘shush’ motion towards the Juventus bench.
