Cancelo row over Inter position

Joao Cancelo was dropped for Inter-Crotone after a row with Luciano Spalletti over his tactical position, claim Portuguese reports.

The former Valencia right-back was left on the bench for the 1-1 draw at San Siro last Saturday, coming on for the final minutes as a substitute.

It had already been rumoured a training ground bust-up was the reason behind his exclusion, but more details are emerging.

Official: Genoa sign Medeiros

Genoa have confirmed the arrival of winger Iuri Medeiros on an 18-month loan with option to buy from Sporting CP.

The 23-year-old Portuguese talent signed the contract today after completing a medical.

The 18-month loan will cost €1m with an option to buy permanently in June 2019.

This season, Medeiros had contributed one goal and one assist in 12 competitive games for his club.

Nations League: Italy fixture list

Italy’s fixture list for the UEFA Nations League begins against Poland on September 7 and concludes with Portugal on November 20.

The Azzurri were drawn in Group 3 of League A for the new tournament, which is a stop-gap between World Cups and European Championships.

They essentially replace international friendlies, as each League has its own set of finals, the draws for which will be made in early December for matches played in June 5-9.

Joao Mario-West Ham down to details

Joao Mario is on the verge of completing his loan move with option to buy from Inter to West Ham United, claim multiple Italian sources.

The likes of Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport are all confident they are down to the details.

It’ll be a paid six-month loan at €1.2m with option to buy at the end of the season.

However, Sky Sport Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims the option has not been given a precise figure, meaning it will depend on how he performs in the Premier League.

Nations League: Italy, Poland, Portugal

Italy have been drawn Poland and European champions Portugal in Group 3 of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

Despite their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, Italy have been assigned a place in the top flight of the four-tier competition.

There will be six group matchdays between September and November, political grounds having separated Armenia and Azerbaijan, plus Russia and Ukraine.

The four Leagues have been split up into four groups, with the 55 countries allocated as per their position on the UEFA national-team coefficient rankings.

Joao Mario rejects West Ham too

Joao Mario is increasingly irritating Inter chiefs by turning down loan moves to first Watford and now West Ham United.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Portugal international has rejected another temporary switch to the Premier League, as he is holding out for a bigger club.

He wants regular playing time to avoid missing out on the 2018 World Cup squad and is very rarely used at Inter, despite costing €40m to sign from Sporting CP in August 2016.

Bergomi: 'Joao Mario embarrassing'

Joao Mario was lambasted by Inter legend Beppe Bergomi, who called the Portugal international’s performance “embarrassing.”

The midfielder was given a rare start in tonight’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina, but lost the ball repeatedly and did very little going forward.

His lack of pace was a particular issue and there was a moment just before half-time when he was dispossessed and failed to track back.

Joao Mario wants England move?

It is reported that Inter’s Joao Mario has instructed his agent to find him a move to the English Premier League.

The Portugal midfielder is unhappy with his lack of gametime in a Nerazzurri shirt and has recently been linked with a move to Spanish side Valencia.

However, according to Rai Sport, the 24-year-old would prefer a transfer to a club in England.

His agent is said to be on excellent terms with Chelsea, so the Italian news outlet suggests Stamford Bridge as a potential destination for the former Sporting Lisbon player.

Inter 'don't want to lose Joao Mario'

Inter director Walter Sabatini confirmed they are “evaluating” Ramires and Alex Teixeira situations, while they “don’t want to lose Joao Mario.”

Former Roma chief Sabatini is the co-ordinator for Suning Group football clubs, working on both Inter and Jiangsu Suning, so they could easily exchange players in January.

“We are in sync with the Coach on the intention of making a few adjustments in January,” Sabatini told Sky Sport Italia.
