Osimhen reassures fans: 'I'm fine'

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen reassured fans he’s doing well after a nasty clash of heads in the 1-1 draw with Cagliari. ‘I can’t wait for the next game’.

The Nigerian centre-forward scored the Partenopei’s goal and was heavily involved in most of what the home side produced.

But after a nasty clash of heads with Luca Ceppitelli, he was replaced by Dries Mertens after 76 minutes.

Osimhen vows to help the woman selling water on the streets of Lagos

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen contacted the woman who sells water on the streets of Lagos. ‘It hurts me to see you like this, I’m here to help you’.

Osimhen was moved by an image of the Nigerian woman without a leg, forced to sell water in the streets of Lagos.

He saw Mary Daniel’s tired face, with a basin on her head full of bottles and a shirt saying ‘no pain, no gain’.

Osimhen started searching for the lady, asking for support on social media: “Help me find this woman.”

'Osimhen reminds me of Cavani'

Intermediary Andrea D’Amico said he’s convinced Victor Osimhen will do well at Napoli. ‘He reminds me of the first Edinson Cavani’.

The 22-year-old has contributed five goals in 16 Serie A games since his move to the Partenopei but he was out from the start of November to mid-January with a shoulder injury and then coronavirus.

D’Amico contributed to Osimhen’s arrival from LOSC Lille last summer and spoke to Radio Marte about the Nigerian striker’s performances in Naples.

Osimhen shines for Nigeria

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was named Man of the Match with a goal and assist in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Lesotho.

The Africa Cup of Nations qualifier was played this evening and Osimhen was on the pitch for 76 minutes.

His goal opened the scoring after 23 minutes, then he provided the assist for the second from Oghenekaro Etebo.

Osimhen also had an earlier goal disallowed for offside, but now has five in the qualifying campaign.

Paul Onuacho came off the bench to complete the 3-0 victory.

Osimhen diagnosed with head trauma

Victor Osimhen has been diagnosed with a head trauma after the Napoli striker was knocked unconscious in the game against Atalanta.

The Nigeria international fell awkwardly in the final minute of the 4-2 defeat following a collision with Cristian Romero and hit the back of his head on the turf.

He was drifting in and out of consciousness, so was rushed to the ambulance at the side of the pitch and taken to the local hospital in Bergamo for tests.

Napoli: Osimhen still positive for COVID

Napoli have confirmed Victor Osimhen is still positive for coronavirus and will repeat the test later this week.

The Nigerian striker will not return to the pitch just yet, as he carried out another molecular test today.

Napoli confirmed that the player tested positive and will repeat the test soon.

“The molecular nasal pharyngeal swab carried out this morning on the footballer Victor Osimhen gave a positive result for COVID-19,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The player will repeat the test this week.”

Napoli: Osimhen returns from Belgium

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly recovered from the shoulder injury and returns from Belgium for Christmas.

The Partenopei striker has been out since the international break and his last match for the Azzurri was on November 8, when he scored in a 1-0 win over Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara.

He has since missed six Serie A games and four Europa League matches, but according to La Repubblica, he will be back when football resumes in January.

Report: Osimhen out until after Christmas

Sky Sport Italia reports Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will be out until after Christmas, as the Nigerian travelled to Belgium for further therapies.

The Nigeria international returned from international duty with a shoulder injury and the Partenopei have coped without the young centre-forward.

He has been absent since November 8 and the broadcaster reports he flew to Antwerp, Belgium, to speed up the recovery time.
