Tianjin Quanjian push for Giovinco

The main Chinese club trying to tempt Sebastian Giovinco away from Toronto FC is reportedly Fabio Cannavaro’s Tianjin Quanjian.

His agent already confirmed in several interviews over the last few days that he had received three big offers from China and would pass them on to Toronto.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the strongest proposal comes from Cannavaro’s club Tianjin Quanjian.

They already flexed their muscles on the transfer market this month by snatching Axel Witsel from Zenit, even though he was wanted by Juventus.

‘Giovinco is happy but…’

Sebastian Giovinco’s agent assures his client is “very happy” at Toronto FC, but hints at a new contract.

The Italian international has two offers from China, which would reportedly see him earn around $20-30m per season in the Far East.

“Seba is very happy and his family is very happy too,” Andrea D’Amico said on Red Card.

“I have a fantastic feeling with all of the TFC family, from Larry Tanenbaum to everyone. For me, [Giovinco joining Toronto] was not only a business deal but it was an emotional experience.

Giovinco 'hard to say no' to China

Sebastian Giovinco turned down Barcelona last year and has “two offers from China that would be hard to say no to,” confirmed the Toronto star’s agent.

The Italy international is one of the best players in MLS, but the future could well be even further afield.

“We’ve received concrete proposals from two Chinese clubs, which then have to be passed on to Toronto,” agent Andrea D’Amico told Mediaset Premium this evening.

Agent: 'Giovinco offer from China'

Sebastian Giovinco “has received an important offer from China and we’ll talk to Toronto to decide what to do,” said his agent.

The Italy international has been in Canada since February 2015 and is arguably one of the best players in Major League Soccer.

“The Chinese club seems to be very interested, but I don’t think it’ll be easy to take him away from Toronto,” agent Andrea D’Amico told Sky Sport Italia.

Agent: ‘Giovinco deserves Italy’

Sebastian Giovinco’s agent insists the Toronto FC man deserves to be called-up for Italy.

The ‘Atomic Ant’ has been excluded by CT Giampiero Ventura and his predecessor Antonio Conte, who see Major League Soccer as a competition which isn’t challenging enough.

Giovinco has 21 goals and 14 assists in his 31 games so far this season, and his representative says that should merit an Azzurri call.

“He’s very disappointed,” Andrea D’Amico admitted, speaking to SportMediaset.

Seba over Simone

Despite MLS detractors, Richard Thomas believes Sebastian Giovinco deserves an Italy call more than Simone Zaza.

Italy Coach Giampiero Ventura’s omission of Graziano Pellè, Mario Balotelli and Sebastian Giovinco, for differing reasons, from his 28-man Azzurri contingent to face Liechtenstein and Germany was probably the main talking point from his squad announcement.

The Atomic Ant has been on sensational form in North America, but was ignored for international duty again.

Giovinco: 'No call from Italy'

Sebastian Giovinco stands up for MLS football at Toronto FC and hopes “sooner or later” he’ll get a call from the Italy squad.

The Atomic Ant has rather slipped off the Azzurri radar since moving to North America, but tonight faces Andrea Pirlo’s New York City FC in the play-off semi-final.

“It’s the first time we’ve faced each other in a knockout match with such high stakes. One of us will go home and I hope it won’t be me,” Giovinco told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
