Giovinco ‘happy for Barca interest’

Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco says interest from Barcelona ‘makes me very, very happy’ after being voted MLS MVP.

The Italy international won the award after a stunning debut season in North America in which he scored 22 goals and contributed 13 assists.

After receiving it last night, the 28-year-old spoke about his delight and the reported interest from Catalonia.

"I’m very pleased, however, being a team sport, it's nice to be able to win with all my team-mates,” he told Calciomercato.it

Giovinco agent: 'Just the start'

Sebastian Giovinco’s agent assured he will “stay at Toronto FC for many more years” after he was voted MLS MVP.

The Atomic Ant broke Major League Soccer records in his first season, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists.

“We are very happy, obviously,” agent Andrea D’Amico told Tuttomercatoweb.

Giovinco wins MLS MVP

Sebastian Giovinco has been named MVP in his debut Major League Soccer campaign with Toronto FC.

The Italy international scored 22 goals and provided 16 assists, taking the Canadian club to its first ever play-offs.

The Atomic Ant shattered MLS records, becoming the first player to reach at least 20 goals and 10 assists in a single season.

He won the Golden Boot as top scorer, was also voted MLS Newcomer of the Year and was part of the 2015 MLS Best XI.

Agent: ‘Barça wanted Giovinco’

Sebastian Giovinco’s agent claims there was a “general interest” from Barcelona, but the player will stay with Toronto FC.

The Italian international was linked with a move to the Spanish champions, to general disbelief, but the player’s representative insists there was some intertest.

“They watched him at different times, but there was nothing concrete,” Andrea D’Amico explained to Calciomercato.

Mazzarri closing on Toronto FC

Reports are multiplying that Walter Mazzarri is in negotiations to take over MLS club Toronto FC.

The former Inter Coach is still on the payroll at San Siro, having been sacked a year ago to make way for Roberto Mancini.

He has been living in England over the last few months in a bid to improve his language skills.

It had until recently been believed this was to prepare him for a position in the English Premier League.

Mazzarri wants MLS job

Walter Mazzarri is currently in England, but reportedly looking for a MLS job with Toronto FC the favourites.

The former Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Coach has been out of work for a year since he was fired by the Nerazzurri to make way for Roberto Mancini.

It’s well known he has been living in England with a family near Manchester, aiming to learn the language and widen his professional horizons.

Giovinco wins Golden Boot award

Toronto FC and Italy forward Sebastian Giovinco has won the 2015 Audi Golden Boot award after a record-breaking MLS campaign.

The 28-year-old scored 22 goals and produced 16 assists in a stunning debut season, after leaving Italian champions Juventus in January.

Giovinco was announced as the winner late last night, beating Columbus Crew SC’s Kei Kamara and LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane to the award.

Giovinco backs Juve vs Inter

Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco hopes Juventus beat Inter on Sunday, while claiming 'the Azzurri compensate for what I lost in Serie A'.

The Derby d'Italia has the media already abuzz, and comments are coming from as far as Major League Soccer, where the former Bianconero emigrated.
