"My great dream is to win the gold medal at the Olympics, because it is a title that Brazil are lacking," stated the midfielder who has been left out of the Copa America squad.

"Seeing as teams can pick three players over the age of 23, I hope to be selected by the Coach for London 2012.

Midfielder of the season

Hernanes settled straight into Serie A football and kept his early season pledge by equalling Pavel Nedved's goal record, says Susy Campanale

My nomination for midfielder of the season is a newcomer to Italian football. Hernanes had been linked with European sides for many years, voted best player in the world under 23 in the 2009 Times special and famously rejected an offer from Milan 12 months earlier because he wanted to feel ready for the change of continent.

Conte is expected to be confirmed as the new Juve boss once this campaign ends and he's already talked about transfers, according to reports.

Stories in Rome claim that Conte has been impressed with the South American's performances at Lazio and he'd like him at his disposal next term.

However, signing the 26-year-old would not be an easy job for Juventus director general Beppe Marotta.

Milan are superior, says Hernanes

Lazio midfield playmaker Hernanes believes Milan are superior to his side, even though just three points separate the two title rivals in the table.

The Aquile's 3-2 victory over Udinese on Sunday means they are still hanging on to the League leaders' coat tails going into the annual winter break.

"I don't know which team is favourite for the Scudetto, but of course I remain very impressed by Lazio," Hernanes explained.

"Sure Milan have shown themselves to be superior. They have players of a great level.
