Mendes confirms Ronaldo will not return to Sporting

Agent Jorge Mendes said Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo will not return to Sporting CP. ‘His career plans don’t go through Portugal’.

The Leoes have qualified for the Champions League by winning the Primeira Liga for the first time in 19 years and Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro said she will ‘try to convince’ the superstar to return.

Ronaldo's mother: 'I'll try to convince him to join Sporting'

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother said she will talk to the Portugal international and ‘try to convince’ him to return to Sporting CP.

The Leoes have qualified for the Champions League by winning the Primeira Liga for the first time in 19 years and Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano’s mother, said she will do everything she can to make the superstar return to the club.

Ronaldo started his professional career with the Verde e Brancos, before he moved to Manchester United in August 2003.

Inter loanee Joao Mario helped Sporting CP pick up their first league title since 2001-02 and the Nerazzurri are ready to cash in on the midfielder.

Czech FA: Ronaldo has not broken Bican's record

The Czech football federation claims Josef Bican scored 821 official goals and not 759, meaning Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has not broken his record.

The Portuguese superstar scored his 760th career goal in the 2-0 win over Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday.

Opta has registered 759 goals for Bican and Ronaldo thus broke his all-time goalscoring record for club and country.

But the Czech football federation published a statement with an updated number and claims Ronaldo must score 62 more goals to overcome their hero.

Leao legal battle with Sporting drags on

According to A Bola, Milan striker Rafael Leao’s assets were frozen in Portugal as part of Sporting CP’s legal action against the player.

The 21-year-old was able to leave Sporting as a free agent in the summer of 2018 after suing the club for just cause, following the invasion of around 50 masked hooligans into their training ground in May 2018.

The ultras attacked players and staff, prompting several members of the squad to unilaterally tear up their contracts.

Juventus have reportedly targeted a summer transfer for Sporting CP defender Nuno Mendes, who has also been linked with Milan.

A Bola reports Fabio Paratici has the 18-year-old on his wish list, as the left-back, who can also operate as centre-back, continues to impress in Portugal.

Official: Joao Mario loaned to Sporting

Inter have officially sent midfielder Joao Mario on loan to Sporting CP, without an option to buy.

The 27-year-old returns to the club he left for €40m to join Inter in the summer of 2016.

Since that big transfer, he has gone on loan to West Ham United and Lokomotiv Moscow.

This is a dry loan, so there is no option to buy at the end of the 2020-21 season.

His contract with Inter runs to June 2022.
