Report: Abate rejects Sporting

Former Milan and Italy right-back Ignazio Abate has reportedly rejected an offer to join Sporting CP.

Abate remains a free agent after Milan chose not to extend his contract over the summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira claims the 32-year-old recently received a proposal football from Sporting.

The Portuguese side are in need of a new right-sided defender after selling Thierry Correia to Valencia.

However, Schira writes Abate knocked back the offer as he deemed it too low.

Fiorentina miss out on pair?

Fiorentina have reportedly failed in their attempts to sign Sporting CP winger Raphinha and Liverpool striker Bobby Duncan.

Fiorentina were working to bridge the gap with Sporting over their valuation of Raphinha, amidst confidence they would agree a fee in the region of €20m.

However, Record warns the Portuguese side have ‘closed the door’ on the Brazilian leaving this summer and that they will only consider selling him for his €60m release clause.

Correa has long been linked with Milan, but they have yet to meet Atleti’s valuation of €50m plus bonuses.

Nonetheless, the forward remains available and Calciomercato.com writes it is out of his desire to join the Rossoneri that he rejected a move to Monaco.

Fiorentina in talks for Raphinha

Fiorentina are targeting Sporting CP right-sided winger Raphinha with negotiations to lower the €25m asking price.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, talks are progressing well for the 22-year-old talent.

Their first choices had been Matteo Politano of Inter or Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi, but those clubs refused to sell.

Raphinha is a right-sided winger with a strong left foot, so can cut inside to cross or shoot, as requested by Coach Vincenzo Montella.

Real Madrid to keep James

Real Madrid are increasingly likely to keep Napoli target James Rodriguez, unless they get Bruno Fernandes for €70m from Sporting CP.

The Partenopei have been pushing for James all summer, as he returned from a two-season loan at Bayern Munich seemingly without much chance of playing time.

Napoli would only offer to take him on loan with option to buy, whereas Real Madrid wanted €42m.
