Fienga: 'Roma appeal rejection unjust'

Roma CEO Guido Fienga considers the rejection of their appeal against a 3-0 loss by default to Hellas Verona to be ‘profoundly unjust.’

The game ended 0-0 in the opening weekend of the 2020-21 Serie A season, but it emerged in the days after that Amadou Diawara had been registered as an Under-23 player when he had already turned 23 a couple of months earlier.

Roma appeal rejected

Roma’s appeal against their 3-0 defeat by default against Verona has been rejected.

The Giallorossi lodged an appeal after they were handed a 3-0 defeat by default in Serie A MD1 away at Verona.

The match ended 0-0 but the Capitolines irregularly fielded Amadou Diawara.

The midfielder turned 23 in July, so was no longer eligible for the Under-22 list that he had been on last season.

However, Diawara was not registered on the senior player list, even after the Lega Serie A informed Roma of the error.
