Garcia: ‘Roma still need three’

Roma Coach Rudi Garcia is still expecting three new signings, and was disappointed to lose four goals to Sevilla.

The Giallorossi emerged victorious in 10-goal thriller at Stadio Olimpico this evening, but were 6-0 up with 20 minutes to play.

“In attack we were good,” Garcia told Roma TV after the match.

“We scored good goals, like the third. At half-time I told the lads I wanted to win the second half, and we lost 4-2.

Official: Lyon sign Yanga-Mbiwa

Olympique Lyonnais have officially confirmed the signing of Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

It was revealed last night that the Ligue 1 side were on the verge of completing a deal for the centre-back, who flew out for a medical.

“Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to announce the arrival of French international defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from AS Roma, who signed a five-year contract on Friday evening,”  the French club said in a statement.

Roma strike Yanga-Mbiwa deal

Reports in France suggest Roma have agreed a deal to sell Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Lyon.

The defender arrived in the capital on loan from Newcastle United last summer, with the Giallorossi making the move permanent in January for around €7.7m.

According to RMC Sport, the Lupi are set to make a profit on the centre-back, with a deal agreed to sell him to Lyon for €8m plus €2m in bonuses.

The 26-year-old is expected to take his medical with the Ligue 1 side tomorrow, with the deal being completed over the weekend or early next week.

Lyon confirm Yanga-Mbiwa talks

Lyon President confirmed they should “close the deal on Monday or Tuesday” for Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

The centre-back is ready to make the transfer to Ligue 1 for €9m.

“Negotiations with Roma are at an advanced stage,” President Jean-Michel Aulas told L’Equipe.

“We will continue discussions over the weekend. There are few of his level around on the transfer market.

“We hope to close the deal on Monday or Tuesday.”

Romagnoli day for Milan

Today is the decisive meeting between Milan and Roma for €30m-rated defender Alessio Romagnoli.

The Rossoneri have been pursuing the 20-year-old all summer, as he was specifically requested by Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Romagnoli spent last season on loan at Sampdoria with the Coach, where he flourished into a reliable centre-back.

Multiple sources are calling this Romagnoli Day, as Milan CEO Adriano Galliani welcomes Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini to his beach office at Forte dei Marmi, Tuscany.

Milan in new Romagnoli talks

Milan agreed personal terms with Alessio Romagnoli, but Roma are eager to keep hold of the centre-back.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani met with Romagnoli’s representative Sergio Berti in Forte dei Marmi this morning.

They discussed personal terms and agreed a basic deal for his contract.

It has been known for some time that the 20-year-old is open to this transfer, but so far Roma have turned down the €25m offer.

Yanga-Mbiwa towards Lyon

Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is on the verge of joining Olympique Lyonnais, according to French papers.

Le Parisien claim that a deal is practically done for the centre-back worth €9m.

The 26-year-old only joined from Newcastle United in September 2014 and made the loan permanent for a total cost of €8.5m.

This would be a return to France for Yanga-Mbiwa, who left Montpellier for Newcastle in January 2013.

Last season he made 38 competitive appearances for Roma, scoring a famous goal in the Derby della Capitale against Lazio.

Roma fall in Lisbon

Roma were beaten 2-0 by Sporting CP in Lisbon, as Wojciech Szczesny made his debut and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa was sent off.

The Giallorossi continued pre-season preparations and were hosted by Sporting CP on the night of their team presentation.

It was an aggressive start from the Portuguese side, though they failed to make the most of a poor Ashley Cole backpass and Bryan Ruiz nodded over the bar.

Juan Manuel Iturbe flashed a cross-shot across the six-yard box with nobody able to get the final touch.

Yanga-Mbiwa: ‘Calcio is back’

Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa believes Italian football has returned to the top level after ‘three or four’ difficult years.

Juventus reached the Champions League final last season, while Napoli and Fiorentina made the semi-finals of the Europa League and the former Newcastle United man sees signs of recovery.

“Three or four years ago it [Italian football] was at its lowest,” Yanga-Mbiwa said at a Press conference.

‘Dzeko is suited to Serie A’

Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa says Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko would suit playing in Serie A.

The Giallorossi are tracking the Bosnian forward as they seek to reinforce their squad, and having played against him in England, Yanga-Mbiwa thinks he’d fit in well.

“I think he has what it takes to play in the Italian League,” the centre-back told a Press conference at the Lupi’s pre-season training camp.
