Capello bemused by Hasenhuttl tears

Fabio Capello was unimpressed by Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl’s show of emotion after beating Liverpool.

The coach dropped to his knees and burst into tears at the final whistle of the 1-0 victory against Jurgen Klopp’s reigning Premier League champions.

“I don’t understand this sort of thing,” mused former England manager Capello on Sky Sport Italia.

“He was working, a bit of emotion is fine in these situations, but this was completely over the top.

Hoedt: 'I met with Brugge'

Ahead of their clash in the Champions League tonight, Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt revealed he could have joined Club Brugge. ‘I met with them’.

The centre-back returned to the Olimpico in October and has played 11 games across all competitions this far into his second stint with the Aquile.

Hoedt hasplayed for Southampton, Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp since his last period with the Biancocelesti and admitted he was pleased to have left a good impression in Belgium.

Hoedt: 'Mistake to leave Lazio'

Wesley Hoedt admits he ‘made a mistake leaving Lazio’ for Southampton and jumped at the chance when Simone Inzaghi asked him to return.

The defender already played at the Stadio Olimpico from 2015-17 before his move to Southampton.

“When the coach called me a few weeks ago, we talked about various things,” said Hoedt in his press conference.

“Inzaghi was very important in my decision and he asked me to come back here. I know there are going to be doubts around me, but I’ll give my all for this jersey and these fans.

Hoedt having Lazio medical

Wesley Hoedt is in Rome to undergo his medical with Lazio following a transfer deadline day move from Southampton.

It is a return to the Stadio Olimpico for the Dutch defender, who already made 48 appearances for the club from 2015 to 2017.

The 26-year-old completed the transfer on loan for €1m with option to buy at the end of the season for another €5m.

Hoedt flew in to Rome this morning and is currently having his medical tests, as confirmed by the official Lazio Twitter account.

Hoedt: 'Happy to be back home'

Wesley Hoedt is ‘very happy to be back home’ after his deadline day transfer to Lazio from Southampton.

The Dutch defender had already worn the Aquile jersey from 2015-17 and is returning on loan with option to buy for a reported €7m.

“I am very happy to be back home,” he wrote on Instagram with a picture of himself and his partner standing at the airport with his Number 14 Lazio shirt.

Since leaving Rome, Hoedt had experiences at Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp as well as Southampton.

Report: Hoedt waits for medical at Lazio

Lazio-bound Wesley Hoedt has reportedly been waiting for his medical test since Friday last week and his move from Southampton keeps getting delayed.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Biancocelesti have reached an agreement with the Saints to sign Hoedt on loan with an option to buy, but the defender still waits for his medical visit.

The Dutchman, who played for Lazio between 2015 and 2017, has been at the hotel in Rome since Friday and was expected to undergo the required tests on Saturday.

Hoedt arrives for Lazio

Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt has arrived in Rome to complete his return to Lazio.

Lazio tweeted this afternoon that Hoedt had landed at Rome Fiumicino airport.

He is set to undergo a medical tomorrow morning, ahead of rejoining on a season-long loan with an option to buy for around €6m.

The 26-year-old already played for the Aquile between 2015 and 2017, winning a Supercoppa.

Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt is expected to undergo a medical with Lazio tomorrow as Simone Inzaghi admits ‘we’re short on numbers’.

Tuttomercatoweb reports Hoedt will check in at the Paideia clinic in Rome tomorrow morning for tests.

The Dutchman is no stranger to Lazio, having spent two seasons with them between 2015 and 2017.

He joined Southampton for €17m but has played just 45 times for the Premier League side, spending time on loan at Celta Vigo and Antwerp.

Potential Hoedt return to Lazio

Lazio are in negotiations with Southampton to bring back defender Wesley Hoedt, on loan with option to buy.

The 26-year-old represented Lazio from 2015-17, when he made a €16m move to the Saints.

He has since gone on loan spells at Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp FC.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio have enquired about bringing Hoedt back to the Stadio Olimpico on loan with an option to buy.

The cost of the operation would be in the region of €5m, as his contract with Southampton only runs to June 2022.
