Mazzarri: 'Rather Lavezzi than Pastore'

Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri insists he'd rather keep Ezequiel Lavezzi than have Palermo's Javier Pastore, but “both sides are good for Italian football.”

Only a point separates these sides going into the Monday night game at the Stadio San Paolo and they are both aiming for a Champions League spot this season.

“There is such a long way to the end of the campaign that we cannot talk about this match as a crossroads moment,” argued Mazzarri.

Lavezzi agent: 'No champagne'

Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent insists the fine for his late night out before a Serie A game was “blown out of proportion.”

This week Napoli announced they had performed their own investigation into the incident on Friday night and fined several players for unprofessional conduct.

“There was no night on the tiles. He just went out to dinner with some of his teammates,” explained Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni.

“The show they went to lasted longer than expected, so they didn't leave until after midnight.

Maradona gives Lavezzi No 10 shirt

Diego Maradona believes the Napoli No 10 shirt should come out of retirement and be given to fellow Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has been toying with the idea of re-introducing the shirt, which has been in and out of use since Maradona's time at the club.

A poll on Il Mattino's website showed that 54.1 per cent of people asked thought it should stay retired.

However, when asked about the debate in Argentina, Maradona told Ole: "Ezequiel is a special lad and a great footballer.

Lavezzi wants Diego jersey

Ezequiel Lavezzi dreams of one day wearing the Napoli No 10 shirt which was retired in honour of former idol Diego Armando Maradona.

"Every Argentine wants to wear it," Alejandro Mazzoni told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli on Monday.

"However, that is a decision that only Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis can take.

"One thing that is for sure, though, is that when Lavezzi played with the No 10 on his back he won the title with San Lorenzo."
