Sarri: ‘Palermo are dangerous’

Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri warns Palermo are “dangerous”, and plays down Scudetto talk.

The Partenopei have won five of their last six Serie A games, and welcome the Sicilian side to San Paolo tomorrow.

“It will be a difficult game,” Sarri predicted in his pre-match Press conference.

“They’re a team who have re-discovered themselves since the international break. They’re coming off two very good results, with good performances, and there’s the unknown of a midweek game.

Sizzling Napoli can win Scudetto

If Napoli can keep this up, look for them to contend for the Scudetto, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

Back in 1991, Michael Jackson released the song ‘Remember the time.’ Almost 25 years later, Maurizio Sarri should smile hearing MJ sing “Do you remember the time…?” It was only a couple of weeks ago that the Napoli Coach was under serious scrutiny. His Partenopei gained only two points in their first three league games and proved to be extremely vulnerable defensively. Diego Maradona even called his appointment a mistake.

Agent: ‘Don’t give Insigne number 10’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent does not believe his client should be given Napoli’s number 10 shirt.

It has been suggested that the playmaker could be assigned the iconic shirt, which was retired in 2000 in honour of Diego Maradona, but his representative is not keen on the idea.

“The Napoli number 10 shirt is untouchable,” Antonio Ottaiano told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

‘Napoli will fight for Scudetto’

Lorenzo Insigne assures Napoli will ‘fight to the end’ to lift the Scudetto this season.

The Partenopei had a poor start to the season, but have been in sparkling form in recent weeks, beating Milan 4-0 at San Siro on Thursday, with Insigne getting two goals and an assist.

“I’ve enjoyed the praise after San Siro,” Insigne smiled in a Press conference while on Italy duty.

“When I went off even the Milan fans applauded. I hope to continue like this. I made a lot of sacrifices as a child.

Sarri: '4-3-3 is working...'

Maurizio Sarri admits he’ll stick with the 4-3-3 after Napoli’s two 5-0 victories and shrugged off Diego Maradona’s criticism.

The Coach had initially adopted a 4-3-1-2 system, but since going with a pure trident the Partenopei have demolished both Club Brugge and Lazio by 5-0 scorelines in the space of four days.

“We never changed our idea of football, we just changed a few starting positions,” Sarri told Mediaset Premium.

ADL: ‘Maradona sensationalist’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis accuses club legend Diego Maradona of being ‘sensationalist’.

The Partenopei hero criticised Coach Maurizio Sarri this week, saying that his old club would not win anything under the former Empoli Coach.

“Maradona is the greatest character who has ever existed in football,” De Laurentiis told Pupia TV.

“But he’s in Dubai, and he just makes sensationalist statements to have an impact. It’s like throwing a stone into a pond and watching the ripples.

Insigne: 'Napoli 10 is mine'

Lorenzo Insigne thanked Coach Maurizio Sarri for allowing him to play as a trequartista for Napoli. “I feel the Number 10 jersey is mine.”

Nobody wears the legendary 10, which became iconic on the back of Diego Armando Maradona, and Insigne currently has 24.

“The Number 10 jersey is untouchable and was worn by the best player in the world, so it’s only right that it remains empty. However, I do feel it is mine in a way,” the local lad told Sky Sport Italia.
