Iachini: 'Good to leave Fiorentina as friends'

Beppe Iachini reveals President Rocco Commisso had suggested he stay on at Fiorentina, but ‘it’s good to leave like this, as great friends.’

The coach had taken over from sacked Vincenzo Montella last term, was fired in November 2020 and brought back again in March when Cesare Prandelli walked away due to health concerns.

“I was called to overcome some difficult moments,” said Iachini in his press conference.

Iachini didn't expect Fiorentina return

Giuseppe Iachini admits he didn't expect a call from Fiorentina and refused to comment further on Cesare Prandelli's resignation.

Iachini returned to the Artemio Franchi during the break to replace Prandelli who hadhanded his resignation for reasons that "go beyond football."

"I have respect for Prandelli, we have a great relationship. I prefer not to comment further on this, he spoke for himself," Iachini said at a press conference.

Report: Iachini accepts return to Fiorentina
