Osvaldo: 'Bar brawls, Totti and Prandelli'

Dani Osvaldo gave a typically outrageous interview in Argentina, including a Roma bar brawl, too much information about Francesco Totti and hating Cesare Prandelli.

The striker is still going with Banfield, returning to football after a break so he could focus on his band and taking part in Italy’s version of Dancing with the Stars.

“I was about to get killed in a bar brawl in Rome,” Osvaldo told TNT Sports. “I asked Totti and Daniele De Rossi to accompany me and sort things out. I’m not stupid…”

Agent: 'I lied to Papa Waigo about Southampton'

N’Diaye Papa Waigo accidentally insulted Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli to the wrong person and only accepted Southampton because of two lies, reveals his agent.

The Senegal international is now 36 years old and playing in the UAE, but spent his early career in Italy with Verona, Cesena, Genoa, Lecce, Ascoli, Grosseto and Fiorentina.

“During the 2009-10 season, I received a phone call from Fiorentina team manager Roberto Ripa,” agent Costantino Nicoletti told Tuttomercatoweb.

Mutu: 'I made wrong choices'

Former Fiorentina, Juventus and Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu confessed he “should’ve made different choices in my life,” including his departure from the Viola.

The Romanian was a Serie A star before his spectacular fall from grace, testing positive for cocaine while at Chelsea and subsequent legal dispute when he signed for Juve as a free agent.

“I should’ve made different choices in my life, but perhaps without those experiences, I would not have been the man I am today,” Mutu told Radio Toscana.

Prandelli: 'Chiesa can become best in Europe'

Former Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli has claimed Federico Chiesa can become “the best player in Europe”.

Prandelli revealed to La Nazione that he has become a gardener at home during the Coronavirus outbreak and claimed he doesn’t care how football will resume, but still had some time to offer his advice for the young Italy star.

“Football will come out transformed, but it will be the same for us. Inevitably,” he told the newspaper.

Faulty choices at Fiorentina

Fiorentina begin 2020 with another new coach, so as Vincenzo Montella makes way for Beppe Iachini, Adrian Carp asks if the Viola made the right decisions.

Fiorentina finally made a decision they probably should’ve already acknowledged over the summer and sacked Vincenzo Montella. There were several candidates to revive the Viola, including Gennaro Gattuso and Luciano Spalletti, but ultimately the job went to Beppe Iachini. At first glance, it’s not exactly an upgrade.

Official: Fiorentina fire Montella

Fiorentina have sacked Vincenzo Montella after last night’s 4-1 home defeat to Roma, but will wait before appointing a replacement.

The decision was somewhat inevitable, as since returning to the Stadio Franchi on April 10, Montella has lost 13 of his total 24 Serie A games in charge.

He amassed only 19 points out of an available 72, including one point in the last six rounds, earned with a stoppage-time equaliser against Inter last week.

Fiorentina seek Montella replacement

Fiorentina have decided to sack Vincenzo Montella, with Luciano Spalletti the ideal replacement, but Beppe Iachini or Gigi Di Biagio are more likely.

The Viola practically dismissed their coach last night following a 4-1 home defeat to Roma, leaving them with one point from the last six Serie A rounds.

Since returning to the Fiorentina bench in April, Montella had 27 competitive matches in charge, managing just six wins, seven draws and 14 defeats.
