Insigne: 'Osimhen reminds me of Cavani'

Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne said Victor Osimhen reminds him of former Partenopei forward Edinson Cavani. ‘He’s devastating’.

Insigne scored the second goal in a 2-0 win against Parma today, when Victor Osimhen impressed the spectators in his first competitive match for the Azzurri.

Insigne said he reminds him ‘a bit of Cavani’, who scored 104 goals in 138 games for the Partenopei between 2010 and 2013.

Report: Inter contacted Cavani

Inter have reportedly contacted Edinson Cavani to have a replacement ready should Lautaro Martinez move on.

Tuttosport reports sporting director Piero Ausilio opened talks with the Uruguayan’s representatives almost two weeks ago to inquire about the former Napoli forward’s demands.

Cavani left Paris Saint-Germain after 2019-20 and is currently looking for a new club as a free agent.

The newspaper reveals Inter are aiming to be prepared in the event that Lautaro’s asking price was met by Barcelona this summer.

Suarez wants to make Barca pay

Luis Suarez is reportedly determined to ‘punish’ Barcelona for pushing him out, but that could in turn delay his transfer to Juventus, opening up the Edinson Cavani option.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.com, the Uruguay international is furious at being shoved aside by new coach Ronald Koeman, who it’s rumoured told him to find a new club during a 90-second telephone conversation.

He still has a year left on his contract, with an option to extend by another season, so wants to make the Blaugrana pay every penny.

Sky: Juventus approach Cavani

Sky Sport Italia claim Juventus have contacted Edinson Cavani after finding difficulty for Luis Suarez and Edin Dzeko.

It would be a surprising move for the Uruguay international, who is a free agent after his PSG contract was allowed to expire.

The former Palermo and Napoli centre-forward had been on the verge of a deal with Benfica, who pulled out when they considered his wage demands to be excessive.

'Roma in South American takeover talks'

Roma have been in takeover negotiations with a South American conglomerate ‘for months,’ claims an intermediary working on their talks with Edinson Cavani.

The club was on the verge of being sold to The Friedkin Group before the COVID crisis hit, changing the valuation of football teams and therefore also of the offer on the table.

That avenue has seemingly now been abandoned by Roma President Jim Pallotta, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still looking for investors, and they could well come from a different continent.

Roma make 'official' Cavani offer

An intermediary claims Roma have made an ‘official offer’ for Edinson Cavani but hints he will only sign if Dan Friedkin completes his takeover.

Amidst reports of a deal being close, Fernandez confirmed the Uruguayan could join Roma – but on one condition.

“There’s an official offer for Cavani,” he told Ovacion.

Cavani closer to Roma?

Reports continue to emerge from Uruguay that Edinson Cavani is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Roma.

The 33-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ran down, so can negotiate with any club he chooses.

He is no stranger to Serie A, having shot to fame with Palermo, then Napoli, until the €64.5m move to PSG in 2013.

Rumours of Roma talks have been circulating for a while in Uruguay and Sebas Giovanelli reports an intermediary will be meeting with Roma on Tuesday or Wednesday to seal the deal.
