Roma join Cavani race

Roma are the latest club interested in giving Edinson Cavani a way out of PSG next season.

The Uruguay international has scored 17 goals in 40 competitive games this term, but spent much of it on the bench.

“Sitting on the bench is terrible, but I have to accept the choices of the Coach,” Cavani told L’Equipe after last night’s Champions League victory over Chelsea.

Juventus, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool had already been linked with a summer swoop for Cavani.

Man Utd edge Juve for Cavani

Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer €50m for Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, who is targeted by Juventus.

The Bianconeri have reportedly set their eyes on the Uruguayan as their prime objective, with a view to replacing the likely departure of Alvaro Morata.

However it appears that the Old Lady will have a tough time picking up Cavani as Manchester United wish to invest heavily on him as well.

‘Never a good time to play Juventus’

Bologna sporting director Pantaleo Corvino says “there’s never a good time to play Juventus” but “it’s always exciting.”

The Rossoblu face the Turin giants tomorrow, and some have suggested that Allegri’s side could be distracted by their upcoming clash with Bayern Munich.

“There’s never a 'best time' to face Juventus,” Corvino insisted, speaking to Sky.

Cavani 'likes Man Utd or Juve'

Edinson Cavani’s father “would like to see him play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus.”

The Uruguay international is widely expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain over the summer after being pushed out of position or on to the bench.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not prepared to play out wide, so they make Edinson play there,” Luis Cavani was quoted as telling Israeli television Sport5.

“However, he is suffering at Paris Saint-Germain. He’d be happy to get back to playing as a genuine ‘Nine.’

CL: Ibra and Cavani sink Chelsea

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani gave Paris Saint-Germain a deserved win over Chelsea, but the English side snatched a potentially crucial away goal.

Tonight saw the first games of the Last 16 phase of the Champions League, with Benfica welcoming Zenit St Petersburg in the other game.

Paris saw a meeting of the English and French champions, as the two sides met for the third year in a row.

Diego Costa could have given the visitors the lead, but Kevin Trapp did well to tip the Spanish international striker’s header onto the bar.

Juve: Morata out, Cavani in?

Today both Italian and Spanish papers claim Real Madrid will buy Alvaro Morata to sell him on in England, so Juventus turn to Edinson Cavani.

Morata was sold to Juventus in a complex deal in July 2014 for €20m, but Real Madrid have an option to buy him back in 2016 or in 2017 for up to €30m.

According to both Tuttosport and Marca this morning, the Spanish side has decided to activate that clause at the end of this season.

Gundogan, Cavani for Juve?

Juventus are reportedly already lining up summer deals, with Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan and PSG’s Edinson Cavani the top targets.

The Bianconeri had a quiet January transfer window, but Tuttosport believes they are in for a busy summer.

The newspaper writes that Gundogan, who has been linked with the club throughout this season, will be a major target.

The Germany international’s current contract expires in 2017, meaning Dortmund could be tempted to cash in with only a year left on his deal.
