ADL: ‘Napoli won’t buy in January’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis reveals “we won’t buy anyone in January” but promises “a big name signing” in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a return to the Stadio San Paolo, and could well be the name the owner is referring to.

“We won’t buy anyone in January,” De Laurentiis told several newspapers, with a preview of his words broadcast by Radio Marte.

“In June though we’ll make a big name signing.

The Partenopei face the Ligue 1 winners at the San Paolo in the Champions League tonight, for a match which could well be decisive for qualification to the Last 16.

“It will be a difficult match,” Blanc predicted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Return of the King

He may not be playing for the right team, writes Massimo Nuzzo, but Napoli fans will be pleased to see Edinson Cavani return to the San Paolo.

This Tuesday, the King returns. Edinson Cavani will play at the Stadio San Paolo for the first time since 2014. Unfortunately for Napoli fans, though, he is still representing Paris Saint-Germain.

‘El Matador’ joined Napoli in 2010 and spent three years with the club, scoring 104 goals in that relatively short time. Prior to his departure, many believed he would surpass Diego Maradona as the club’s all-time top goalscorer, an honour which now belongs to captain Marek Hamsik.
