ADL: ‘Cavani was never for sale’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis read “a lot of stupid things” about Edinson Cavani, who was never for sale.

There were rumours this summer that the Partenopei were looking to re-sign the Paris Saint-Germain striker as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, who moved to Juventus.

“I read a lot of stupid things,” De Laurentiis sighed, speaking in a Press conference.

Cavani: ‘Wouldn’t do what Higuain did’

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani reiterates that he’d never have left Napoli for Juventus as Gonzalo Higuain did.

Higuain was signed as a replacement for the Uruguayan when he moved to Ligue 1 in 2013, but cause uproar in Naples by making a €90m move to their most hated rivals.

‘No Cavani contact with Napoli, but...’

The agent of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani insists there has been no contact with Napoli but “doesn’t know if things can change”.

PSG sporting director Patrick Kluivert appeared to rule out a move away for Cavani after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Monaco on Sunday, and while Fernando Cavani seconded the Dutchman in that there had been no approach from Napoli, he invited the Partenopei to make “a satisfactory offer”.

PSG rule out Cavani exit?

Paris Saint-Germain have hinted that Napoli target Edinson Cavani is going nowhere after confirming their transfer business to be over for the summer.

Cavani had been touted for a sensational return to Napoli in the final days of the transfer window as a direct replacement for Juventus-bound Gonzalo Higuain, but PSG sporting director Patrick Kluivert has made it clear that no potential replacements are incoming.

“Buying other players? No,” the Dutchman told Radio Monte Carlo.

ADL: ‘Cavani won’t return to Napoli’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis denies Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani could return to the San Paolo.

It has been suggested in recent days that the Parentopei are in talks with the Uruguayan striker about a possible return, having sold him for €64m in 2013.

“I’m a big fan of Edinson Cavani,” De Laurentiis wrote on Napoli’s official website.

Napoli seek Cavani comeback

After rumours he was already in Naples, new reports claim Napoli are in advanced talks for an Edinson Cavani comeback from PSG.

There were unexpected scenes on Friday night when rumours spread that the Uruguayan was staying at the Hotel Vesuvio as a guest of the club, so dozens of fans waited outside at 3am.

His agent later confirmed he was still in Paris, but was touched by the “affection” shown by ultras.

Cavani 'sorry' for Napoli fans

Edinson Cavani’s agent said he was “sorry Napoli fans waited in vain for him, but it proves how much affection they still have.”

Reports emerged on Canale 21 last night that the Paris Saint-Germain striker was staying at the Hotel Vesuvio, suggesting he was preparing a transfer back to his former club.

Dozens of fans waited outside the hotel at 3am to see their hero, but there is no evidence he was there.

Napoli fans wild for Cavani rumour

In a remarkable story, dozens of Napoli fans waited outside a hotel at 3am amid reports Edinson Cavani was set to leave PSG.

There were rumours spreading last night that President Aurelio De Laurentiis had called Cavani to ask if he wanted a return to the Stadio San Paolo.

Canale 21 then implied the Uruguayan was a guest of Napoli at the Hotel Vesuvio.

This prompted a group of fans to wait outside the hotel at 3am in the hope of spotting their former hero.

However, there seems to be very little chance of Cavani making a comeback to Napoli.

Cavani: 'I'd never do like Higuain'

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani respects Gonzalo Higuain's choice to go to Juventus, but 'I would never have done that'.

The Argentinian's decision to leave his team in favour of their direct competitors left fans in the southern city utterly furious and embittered.

Several football figureheads criticised Higuain for his choice, most notably Diego Armando Maradona. Cavani, who was Napoli's star striker before the Pipita, was also not overly impressed.
