Platini: 'Dybala more like Maradona than me'

Former Juventus hero Michel Platini thinks Argentine forward Paulo Dybala ‘looks more like Diego Maradona than me’.

Platini picked up two Scudetti, one Coppa Italia and a European Cup during his five years with the Old Lady and retired after having won three Ballon d’Or and three Capocannoniere titles.

Dybala has been likened to the 65-year-old, but the former UEFA President has claimed he is more similar to Napoli legend Maradona.

Independiente reveal Biglia interest

Independiente boss Lucas Pusineri has confirmed his club’s interest in signing Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia.

Biglia will leave Milan at the end of the season, and Pusineri admits he is actively trying to bring the veteran to Independiente.

“I’ve already sent Biglia a message,” he told Radio Confidencial.

“In the next few days, we’ll have the chance [to chat]. I respect and admire him.

“We’ll see what his ideas are. I’ll put mine across to see if we can reach an agreement.

Gomez: 'Close to Lazio & Italy'

Atalanta captain Alejandro Gomez has revealed just how close he was to joining Lazio and playing for Italy.

Gomez was heavily linked with Lazio in the summers of 2017 and 2018, and the 32-year-old confirmed there was truth to the rumours.

“A few years ago, I was close to Lazio,” he told Radio Deejay.

'De Rossi wanted to be Boca coach'

Ex-Roma defender Guillermo Burdisso has revealed how Daniele De Rossi wanted to become a coach for Boca Juniors after he hung up his boots.

Burdisso and De Rossi were Roma teammates during the 2010-11 campaign and faced off as rivals earlier this season, with Nicolas’ younger brother playing for Boca’s rivals Lanus.

The former Italy midfielder has since returned home and retired from football, but Guillermo reckons he had ‘more to give’ in the Argentine capital.

Papu Gomez releases children's book

Atalanta captain Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez has released a children’s graphic novel about his life and career.

He announced the initiative via his Instagram Stories and it will be available to buy both in physical and digital form.

‘Ciao, son il Papu’ (Hello, I am Papu) is released by Rizzoli from June 16 and some stores in Bergamo will sell special autographed versions.

'Lautaro to Barca would help Argentina'

Argentina CT Lionel Scaloni has reiterated that his team would stand to gain an ‘advantage’ if Lautaro Martinez left Inter for Barcelona.

Scaloni’s comments come after he claimed just two weeks ago that it would be ‘better’ for Argentina if Martinez also became Lionel Messi’s strike partner at club level.

“It would be an advantage for us, but Lautaro’s still young,” he told TyC Sports.

Nahuel Bustos is ‘liked by Valencia, Sevilla, Roma and many others, but these are just asking for information,’ explained the Telleres striker’s agent.

The 21-year-old forward has scored 10 goals with four assists in 21 competitive games for his club this season.

As his contract only runs to June 2021, a summer departure seems very likely indeed.

Scaloni: 'Lautaro must start games'

Argentina CT Lionel Scaloni thinks Inter forward Lautaro Martinez ‘will have to sacrifice himself’ if he moves to Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Catalan giants in recent months and the Argentina coach has claimed the most important thing for the former Racing Club star is to ‘play regularly’.

“I would like Lautaro Martinez to play regularly, but he can earn a place in the team because he is young and runs for the others too,” Scaloni told Radio La Red.
