Giovanni Manna, the next Napoli sporting director, met with the entourage of Lille striker Jonathan David last week to discuss the details of a possible summer transfer.

The Partenopei are ready to sell Victor Osimhen and cash in on his circa €130m release clause, a lofty fee that’ll allow them to revolutionise the squad. The club still haven’t appointed a new long-term head coach either, linked with options like Antonio Conte, Stefano Pioli and Gian Piero Gasperini.

David has just over a year left on his contract with Lille and is looking likely to leave in the summer, interested in a new adventure after four years with the French side. He has been regularly linked with a move to Serie A, with possible suitors including Napoli and Milan.

Napoli meet David

As reported by TMW, imminent Napoli sporting director Manna met with David’s entourage in Milan last week to discuss the details of a possible deal in the summer. There, it was made clear that the Canadian striker would like a five-year contract worth around €3m net per season plus add-ons.

The 24-year-old is happy with the idea and likes the project in the Campania capital, leaving the ball in the Partenopei’s court to find a deal with Lille. In January, the Ligue 1 outfit wanted around €35-40m, a fee that’s now risen to around €50m, which Napoli want to drop to €35m plus add-ons.
