Capello: I'm staying with Russia

Fabio Capello has reiterated that he will stay as Coach of the Russian national team until the 2018 World Cup.

Russia will be hosting the tournament in four years’ time, and despite flopping in Brazil, the Italian has insisted that he is in the job for the long run.

“I will remain Coach until 2018,” he told La Repubblica.

Insigne: World Cup a good experience

Lorenzo Insigne has commented on Italy’s woeful World Cup campaign, but believes he will be better as a result.

The Azzurri crashed out of the tournament in the group stages after losing to Costa Rica and Uruguay in their final two matches.

The Napoli striker though, is confident that the squad are on an upward curve.

“I was happy to be a part of the group, because I’m only 23,” he told a Press conference.

Gerrard confirms England retirement

Steven Gerrard has confirmed he will retire from international duty after a 14-year career with England.

The Three Lions legend played 114 times for his country, going to six major tournaments and scoring 21 times.

The Liverpool midfield played at this summer’s World Cup where England, along with Italy, crashed out of Group D.

And following that embarrassment, the 34-year-old has confirmed this afternoon that he is calling it a day.
