Ancelotti wants Pirlo in Italy staff

Carlo Ancelotti has asked to both his son and Andrea Pirlo in his staff if he takes over the Italy job, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Coach had a meeting with the FIGC representatives this week in Rome and will give them a firm reply at the end of this month.

The latest reports suggest that Ancelotti laid down some conditions for taking the role and that includes having his son Davide – who already caused some waves at Bayern Munich – and former Italy hero Pirlo in his coaching staff.

Zenit consider Mihajlovic

Zenit St Petersburg are looking towards Sinisa Mihajlovic as a replacement if Roberto Mancini leaves to take the Italy job.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Serbian tactician is the favourite to take over the Russian club for next season.

It’d be a natural progression, as Mihajlovic was teammates with Mancini, then his assistant manager at Inter.

Mihajlovic is currently out of work after he was fired by Serie A outfit Torino.

Mancini, on the other hand, is widely expected to be appointed CT of Italy on May 20.

Mancini favourite for Italy job

Roberto Mancini is the hot favourite to take over the Italy job and is expected to quit Zenit St Petersburg in May, claim reports.

The search continues for a permanent heir to Giampiero Ventura, who was sacked after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Gigi Di Biagio was given the role of interim CT for two friendlies against Argentina and England last month, but did not do enough to warrant the place full-time.

Sevilla Coach Vincenzo Montella jokes he can’t be the new Italy boss because he doesn’t have “grey hair” - but Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri do.

The search goes on for an Azzurri CT after Gian Piero Ventura was sacked, as Gigi Di Biagio did not impress enough during his two friendlies in charge.

Fabbricini: 'Economic aspect for Italy'

FIGC Commissioner Roberto Fabbricini admits “there is a financial aspect to be respected” when choosing the new Italy Coach, “but we rule nobody out.”

The Nazionale still don’t have a CT in place after sacking Gian Piero Ventura in November, so Under-21 boss Gigi Di Biagio is in the caretaker role for two friendlies.

He lost the first 2-0 to Argentina and takes on England at Wembley this evening, but other candidates include Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini.
