Brentford target U20 talent Tripaldelli

Brentford have reportedly made an offer for Italy U20 World Cup starlet Alessandro Tripaldelli, but Sassuolo want to evaluate him first.

The 20-year-old left-back made a big impression in the tournament this month and Sky Sport Italia claim he caught the eye of English club Brentford.

Tripaldelli spent last season out on loan, first at PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands and from January at Serie B side Crotone.

Sassuolo Coach Roberto De Zerbi wants to evaluate the player in pre-season training before deciding whether to put him on the market.

Nicolato: 'No U20 World Cup injustice'

Italy Coach Paolo Nicolato consoled his team after their controversial U20 World Cup exit to Ukraine. “It might’ve been an error, but not an injustice.”

The Azzurrini were trailing 1-0 to 10-man Ukraine when Gianluca Scamacca chested down a cross, turned and volleyed in during stoppages.

It would’ve sent the semi-final to extra time, but the referee viewed it on VAR and disallowed the goal for a supposed Scamacca elbow on his marker.

U20 World Cup: Furious Italy eliminated

Italy are out of the Under-20 World Cup after losing the semi-final 1-0 to Ukraine, but there was controversy with a stoppage-time equaliser disallowed using VAR.

The Azzurrini had topped their group, then eliminated hosts Poland and 10-man Mali, so made no changes to Coach Paolo Nicolato’s starting XI.

Danylo Sikan was booked in the opening 10 seconds of the game, but also had the first real attempt on target – a looping header – saved by Alessandro Plizzari.
