Euro 2020: Lukaku stars for Belgium

Romelu Lukaku starred during Belgium’s 4-0 victory over Scotland in Euro 2020 qualifying, but Marcelo Brozovic and Ante Rebic struggled for Croatia.

Croatia remain top of Group E but saw their lead cut to just one point after a 1-1 draw with Azerbaijan.

Inter midfielder Brozovic contributed with just a 21st-minute booking, while Milan new boy Rebic was substituted with four to go.

Joao Mario set for Russia

In a late twist, Inter midfielder Joao Mario is now close to joining Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Joao Mario had been linked with Monaco only this morning, but Sky Sport Italia is now reporting that he is Lokomotiv-bound.

The broadcaster explains the Portuguese was at Inter’s offices earlier to finalise his move to Moscow.

The Russians are set to sign the 26-year-old on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Fiorentina to learn Ribery fate

Fiorentina will reportedly learn whether talks for Franck Ribery have been successful in the coming hours.

Fiorentina have been locked in negotiations to sign Ribery for the past week, but they are competing with Russian sides Dynamo Moscow and Spartak Moscow.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 36-year-old will make a decision on his future in the near future.

Official: Marchisio leaves Zenit

Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio has officially left Zenit St Petersburg by mutual consent.

Zenit tweeted on Monday evening: “The club can confirm that Claudio Marchisio's contract has been mutually terminated.

“Zenit would like to thank Claudio for his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future.”

The 33-year-old was released by Juve in August 2018 and signed a contract with Zenit until 2020 a month later.

Marchisio to leave Zenit

Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio is in talks to terminate his Zenit St Petersburg contract early.

Tuttomercatoweb and Goal.com both report Marchisio is ready to leave Zenit, less than a year after arriving on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old was released by Juve in August 2018 and signed a contract with Zenit until 2020 a month later.

However, continued knee problems have limited him to just 15 games for the Russian club, although he did manage to score twice.

Happy birthday, Fabio Capello

Today is the 73nd birthday of legendary Italian Coach Fabio Capello, a Champions League winner with Milan in 1994.

Born near Trieste in 1946, Capello began his career as a midfielder for Spal, before moving to Roma for 260m lire in 1967.

He scored his first goal for the club in November of that year, the winner against Juventus in a 1-0 victory.

The Giallorossi won the Coppa Italia in his second season, reaching the Cup Winners’ Cup semi-final the following season.

Petagna 'wanted by Leicester & Atleti'

Leicester City and Atletico Madrid are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing SPAL striker Andrea Petagna this summer.

Nuova Ferrara writes emissaries from both sides have been tracking Petagna, as well as those from Besiktas, Eintracht Frankfurt and an unnamed Russian outfit.

There has even been talk of interest from Champions League semi-finalists Tottenham Hotspur, although this is not confirmed.

The former Atalanta targetman has enjoyed his best season in front of goal this season, scoring 15 times in 33 games.

CSKA: ‘Two days for Golovin’

CSKA Moscow’s President says the future of Juventus target Alexandr Golovin will be decided “in the next two days” and “there’s no done deal” with Chelsea.

The Russian midfielder appears to be close to a move to Stamford Bridge, but the Bianconeri and Monaco have also made bids.

“We have to let Golovin go so we don’t hold him back,” Evgeniy Giner told Sport24.

“As things stand though we still don’t have the solution. When we receive an offer we always try to negotiate openly.

Golovin to have Chelsea medical?

Chelsea appear to have beaten Juventus and Monaco to Aleksandr Golovin’s signature, with reports he’ll have a medical today.

The Russian talent has been the subject of at least two bids by the Bianconeri, while it was confirmed yesterday that Monaco have also made an offer.

Now though calciomeracto.com is citing BBC sources in Russia who state that CSKA Moscow have accepted a bid from Chelsea, who are offering a five-year contract.

Golovin has agreed terms in principle, so a medical could take place as soon as today.

Golovin waiting for Juventus

Aleksandr Golovin has offers from Chelsea and Arsenal, but it’s reported he is prepared to wait for Juventus to step up.

The 22-year-old Russia international impressed at the World Cup, contributing a goal and two assists in four games.

He had already been on the Bianconeri radar for months before the tournament, but his performances caught the eye of Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal.
