Agent: 'Laxalt could join Lokomotiv'

Diego Laxalt’s agent says he is ‘optimistic’ of a deal being agreed between Milan and Lokomotiv Moscow for the left-back. 

Negotiations are under way between the two clubs and Ariel Krasouski confirmed Laxalt ‘would have no issue’ moving to Russia for first-team football.

“We talked about it yesterday for the first time with Milan,” he told MilanNews.it.

Lokomotiv make Laxalt offer

Lokomotiv Moscow have offered €7m for Diego Laxalt, reports Calciomercato.com, but Milan want €10m to sell the Uruguayan left-sider.

Laxalt only returned to Milan from Torino in January as backup for Theo Hernandez and after Antonee Robinson’s proposed move from Wigan Athletic fell through.

According to CM, a Russian intermediary was at the Rossoneri’s offices yesterday to present a €7m bid from Lokomotiv for the 27-year-old.

Lazio look to Zenit striker Dzuyba

Lazio are interested in veteran Zenit St Petersburg centre-forward Artem Dzyuba, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Russia international is an option to act as understudy to Ciro Immobile upfront.

He turns 32 in August and has 24 goals in 42 senior caps for Russia.

His contract with Zenit runs until June 2020, so Dzyuba will be available in the summer.

He spent his entire career in Russia and has scored 15 goals with 12 assists in 28 competitive games so far this season.

Russia suspend games until April 10

Russian Premier League has decided to suspend the season until April 10 amid fear of the COVID-19.

Real Russia Today confirms that the Premier League clubs in Russia decided during a meeting to suspend the upcoming fixtures until next month.

Zenit are currently on top with a nine-point gap ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow and Krasnodar after 22 rounds of fixtures.

Juve agree deal for Russia star?

Sport Mediaset claims Juventus have already agreed a deal for Lokomotiv Moscow and Russia star Aleksei Miranchuk.

According to the broadcaster, Juve have “locked down” Miranchuk for a summer 2020 transfer, without revealing any figures.

The attacking midfielder has caught the eye in the Champions League this season, scoring twice in both of Lokomotiv’s group games against the Bianconeri.

Batshuayi: 'Lukaku a phenomenon'

Michy Batshuayi has hailed “phenomenon” Romelu Lukaku after watching the Inter striker score the fourth goal in Belgium’s 4-1 win over Russia.

Batshuayi replaced Lukaku during the second half against Russia. but not before the former Manchester United hitman got on the scoresheet in St Petersburg.

“Romelu is a phenomenon,” the Chelsea attacker told RTBF.

“We can play very well together. I think we compliment each other perfectly.

Mertens injured with Belgium

Napoli forward Dries Mertens limped off during Belgium’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Russia, leaving his club anxious about his condition.

The striker had started the game in Russia and his team was 3-0 up when he was brought down during a promising scoring opportunity.

He tried to continue, but quickly realised he had to come off at the 52nd minute.

It remains to be seen how bad the injury is, as Napoli have very big games coming up against Milan in Serie A and Liverpool in the Champions League.

Milik on target for Poland

Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik scored a sensational goal that helped Poland join Italy, Belgium and Russia at Euro 2020.

Milik curled a left-foot strike from outside the box, as Poland beat North Macedonia 2-0 this evening.

That proved enough to secure their place at the tournament next summer.

Russia also mathematically clinched qualification for Euro 2020 today, beating Cyprus 5-0.

Italy and Belgium are the only sides to have qualified with a 100 per cent record so far.

Euro 2020: Lukaku stars for Belgium

Romelu Lukaku starred during Belgium’s 4-0 victory over Scotland in Euro 2020 qualifying, but Marcelo Brozovic and Ante Rebic struggled for Croatia.

Croatia remain top of Group E but saw their lead cut to just one point after a 1-1 draw with Azerbaijan.

Joao Mario set for Russia

In a late twist, Inter midfielder Joao Mario is now close to joining Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Joao Mario had been linked with Monaco only this morning, but Sky Sport Italia is now reporting that he is Lokomotiv-bound.

The broadcaster explains the Portuguese was at Inter’s offices earlier to finalise his move to Moscow.

The Russians are set to sign the 26-year-old on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
