Lopez: 'We didn't participate'

Brescia coach Diego Lopez was ‘annoyed’ watching his team lose 6-0 to Inter on Wednesday. ‘They must understand the season is not over’.

The Rondinelle are fighting for salvation but the Uruguayan coach admitted they didn’t compete against the Nerazzurri and paid the heavy price for their lack of commitment.

“We didn’t participate from the beginning,” Lopez told DAZN. “We knew it was difficult to get a result, but it’s annoying to lose this way.

Lopez: 'That was not a penalty'

Brescia coach Diego Lopez was furious after a 2-2 draw with Genoa. ‘If there’s VAR and they still give that penalty, then that’s two mistakes.’

The Rondinelle had taken a 2-0 lead early on, but a very controversial penalty allowed the visitors back into the game.

“I don’t think I even need to comment,” Lopez told Sky Sport Italia.

Lopez: 'Tonali has no limits'

Brescia boss Diego Lopez has explained why midfield starlet Sandro Tonali is so sought-after. “He has no limits.”

Tonali has showed his quality in his first season as a Serie A player for Brescia, providing five assists in 25 games and picking up his first three Italy caps.

“If he’s fit, he plays,” Lopez told Corriere della Sera.

“There’s a lot of talk about him, and rightly so, but he’s just a young lad who is in love with the ball.”

Report: Balotelli forced Brescia sacking

Mario Balotelli reportedly refused to terminate his contract by mutual consent, prompting Brescia to send a letter informing him he’d been fired.

It was hoped the situation could be resolved amicably, but the breakdown in communication was so extreme that this very short experience is coming to an ugly end.

Balotelli failed to attend several training sessions over the last week, claiming on Instagram that he was ‘sick’, but the club insisted he had not given them any warning, let alone a doctor’s note.

Brescia blasted for calling sacked coaches

The Italian Association of Coaches sent out an angry statement blasting Brescia for the bizarre decision to call in sacked managers Eugenio Corini, Fabio Grosso and their staff during the coronavirus lockdown.

Everyone in Italy is urged to stay at home and restrict travel, as the virus has killed 2,503 people in the country so far.

It is therefore inexplicable that Brescia have called Corini and Grosso, along with their staff, fitness coaches and collaborators, to a training ground when they were fired earlier this season.
