Lippi: ‘Every team has struggled’

Marcello Lippi struggles to name a Scudetto winner - “they’ve all had problems.”

Just two points separate top-of-the-table Roma from fifth-place Inter, while four-time champions Juventus are in the bottom half of the table.

“This year there’s no team playing with their foot on the accelerator,” Lippi considered, speaking to Radio Due.

“They’ve all had problems. Some because of a changed team, some with a new Coach and some with injuries.

“They have extraordinary players like [Gonzalo] Higuain and [Lorenzo] Insigne, and they’re performing very well.

‘No Derby d’Italia favourites’

Ex-Juventus and Inter Coach Marcello Lippi can’t call the Derby d’Italia - “I don’t think there are favourites in these games.”

The Nerazzurri welcome their old rivals to San Siro on Sunday night, having not beaten them at home since the treble-winning season of 2010.

However, it’s been a slow start for the Old Lady, with many saying a defeat could end their bid for a fifth-consecutive Scudetto, even at this early stage.

Milan consider Lippi-Brocchi?

It’s reported Milan are considering a Marcello Lippi and Cristian Brocchi team if Sinisa Mihajlovic is sacked.

The Serbian Coach has come under pressure after two defeats in a row, with the Rossoneri having started this season with less points than last term when they finished 10th.

According to Corriere dello Sport, a defeat at Torino in the next game could spell the end for Mihajlovic, with a backup plan already in place.

Lippi: ‘Conte will leave after Euros’

Marcello Lippi believes Italy CT Antonio Conte will not stay on after Euro 2016.

The Azzurri boss has had a tumultuous time in charge since taking over last summer, as he still could face trial in a match-fixing probe, but is on the verge of mathematically assuring Italy’s place in the tournament.

Despite this, World Cup-winner Lippi does not believe Conte will remain in the job after the tournament in France.

“My impression is that Conte won’t stay,” the former Juventus Coach told Corriere dello Sport.
