SPAL swoop for Pinamonti?

Mattia Destro’s arrival could signal the end of the road for Andrea Pinamonti at Genoa, with SPAL keen on taking the Inter loanee.

Genoa signed former Roma and Milan striker Destro from Bologna earlier today, and this could spark a domino effect in Serie A.

That is because Pinamonti could be about to leave the Rossoblu, just six months after moving on loan from Inter.

Coppa: Fiorentina win despite red

Fiorentina saw off Cittadella 2-0, despite playing for over an hour down to 10 men, and will face Atalanta in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

It was a strong start from the Serie B outfit, forcing Pietro Terracciano into a save within the opening minute.

Dusan Vlahovic made a horrible mess of a free header at the back post, but after a save on Gaetano Castrovilli, Marco Benassi broke the deadlock by drilling low into the near bottom corner from 14 yards. Riccardo Sottil deserved much of the credit, having won back the ball near the corner flag.

Montella: 'Fiorentina are angry'

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has insisted that his players are “angry” about their recent run of poor results.

Fiorentina lost their third consecutive game on Saturday, suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Lecce, but Montella has been encouraged by the response of his players to the result.

“We have so much anger in ourselves, I also saw it on Saturday during the game. We want to play with heart and quality, but we have to be less frenetic,” he said at a press conference.

Roma youth players in Rugani deal

Juventus have reportedly asked Roma for €20-25m plus youth team players Alessio Riccardi and Zan Celar for Daniele Rugani.

According to Sky Sport Italia, negotiations are continuing between the two clubs, as there is a way of lowering the €30m asking price.

It remains to be seen if this is a loan with option to buy, or even an obligation to make the move permanent.

The news is that there are reports Juve requested two Roma youth team players as part of the deal.

Coppa: Verona out, Cittadella thriller

There were surprises in the Coppa Italia Third Round, as Hellas Verona went out to Cremonese, Empoli taken to extra time, a six-goal Carpi thriller and prolific Frosinone.

Newly-promoted Hellas Verona saw their Coppa Italia campaign grind to a halt at the first hurdle.

Alan Empereur had put the hosts in front at the Bentegodi with a powerful volley on a corner, but deep into stoppages Cremonese equalised through a Michele Castagnetti tap-in following chaotic defending.

Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza shocked Serie B side Benevento to set up a tie with Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia third round.

Feralpisalo, Pisa, Perugia, Salernitana, Venezia, Crotone, Spezia, Sudtirol, Cremonese and Imolese, meanwhile, all secured Serie A ties.

So did Chievo, although the Flying Donkeys needed a penalty shootout to avoid a giant-killing at the hands of third-tier Ravenna.
