‘Jankto not leaving Udinese’

Udinese have confirmed that Jakub Jankto will stay at the club this month and not leave until a “suitable replacement” is signed.

Jankto has been linked with moves to Milan and the Premier League in recent weeks, but Udinese’s sporting director asserted the Czech midfielder would be going nowhere until at least the summer.

“Jankto won’t leave in January and we’ve said so several times,” Manuel Gerolin told Sportitalia.

Barak 'ready for next step'

Udinese starlet Antonin Barak “is ready for the next step,” said his agent, but has “no preference” between Inter, Napoli or Milan.

He has scored seven goals with two assists in 17 Serie A appearances.

“It was an enormous surprise for us that he had such a strong impact in Serie A, but Tony always gives his best and works hard in training,” agent David Nehoda told FCInterNews.it.

‘Azzurri declining since 2006’

The Italian national team’s decline began after victory in the 2006 World Cup, according to Udinese Coach Massimo Oddo.

The Bianconeri boss was a member of Marcello Lippi’s 23-man squad that won the tournament in Germany 12 years ago.

However, with the Azzurri having failed to even qualify for this summer’s finals in Russia, Oddo believes the side’s woes can be blamed on a long-term complacency that set in after becoming world champions.

Mirabelli: ‘Gomez won’t join Boca’

The centre-back is set to leave the Rossoneri this month, and Boca were keen to bring him to La Bombonera.

However, the Argentine club were only willing to do a loan deal and it appears that has ended any chance of an agreement being found.
