Sarri: 'Prefer to lose when trying to win'

Maurizio Sarri admits he’d rather lose to Udinese by attacking too fervently rather than passively accept a draw, as Juventus host Sampdoria. ‘I prefer that.’

It kicks off on Sunday at 20.45 UK time (19.45 GMT), click here for a match preview.

The Bianconeri could’ve already been Champions of Italy midweek, but they fumbled yet another lead and lost 2-1 away to Udinese.

Liverani: 'Lecce simply have to win'

Fabio Liverani warns Lecce have ‘only one option here and that is to win’ away to Bologna in their battle to avoid relegation.

It kicks off on Sunday at 16.15 UK time (15.15 GMT), click here for a match preview.

The Salentini beat Brescia 3-1 to give themselves some hope of avoiding the drop, hoping Genoa drop points in a tougher run-in.

“We know that we have only one option here and that is to win,” said Liverani in his press conference.

Serie A Week 36 referees

The full list of referees for Serie A’s Week 36 fixtures is released, with Francesco Fourneau given Juventus-Sampdoria.

Juve will win the Scudetto if they beat Samp this evening, and overseeing their potential title party is Fourneau, who has just five top-flight games behind him.

Indeed, the 36-year-old has never officiated a Serie A match involving the Bianconeri or Samp.

Elsewhere, Daniele Chiffi will take charge of Roma’s visit of Fiorentina and Manuel Volpi is the man in the middle for Verona-Lazio.

Lazzari misses next match

Serie A’s Disciplinary Commission has confirmed that Lazio winger Manuel Lazzari and Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong has been given one-match suspensions.

Lazio will be without the influential Lazzari against Hellas Verona on Sunday, whilst Udinese must cope without Troost-Ekong when they travel to Sardinia to face Cagliari.

Lazzari picked up a yellow card in the 2-1 win over Cagliari, whilst Troost-Ekong was booked when Udinese spoiled the Scudetto party for Juventus on Thursday.

Thigh strain for Douglas Costa

Juventus confirm Douglas Costa will be out of action for at least two weeks with a Grade II thigh strain.

The Brazilian played in last night’s 2-1 defeat to Udinese as a substitute.

He underwent tests this morning and was diagnosed with a Grade II lesion to the adductor in his right thigh.

His condition will be re-evaluated in 15 days.

This means the Serie A season is already over for Douglas Costa, while he also could be at risk for the Champions League Round of 16 tie with Olympique Lyonnais in August.

Juventus could win title without playing

Juventus need three more points to win the Scudetto, but a series of results interconnected could give them the title before they even play Sampdoria on Sunday.

The Bianconeri would’ve clinched the title on Thursday evening with a win away to Udinese, and had taken the lead through Matthijs de Ligt, but eventually lost 2-1 to Ilija Nestorovski and Seko Fofana goals.

That means if Atalanta beat Milan this evening, the gap will momentarily be just three points.

Highlights: Udinese 2-1 Juventus

Juventus were preparing the party for their ninth consecutive Serie A title, but Udinese had other ideas with a comeback to win 2-1 in stoppages.

Matthijs de Ligt thought he’d done enough to secure victory at the Dacia Arena with his ferocious strike from distance, his fourth goal of the season.

However, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini were sorely missed in the back four, as Udinese tore the Bianconeri apart.

Sarri: 'Juventus lost organisation'

Maurizio Sarri admits Juventus tend to ‘lose our organisation and shape’ after a 2-1 defeat to Udinese. ‘Games are strange after the lockdown.’

The Bianconeri fumbled 18 points from leading situations in Serie A this season and had gone in front at the Dacia Arena with a Matthijs de Ligt strike, but Ilija Nestorovski’s diving header and a Seko Fofana counter-attack in stoppages turned it all around.
