Commisso stadium and De Paul hints

Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso discussed transfer strategy, Federico Chiesa, Rodrigo De Paul and new stadium plans.

The Italian-American flew in to attend their opening Serie A game of the season, a 4-3 defeat to Napoli, and had a series of meetings with the local council today.

“The Stadio Franchi could be restructured or a new arena built, we have options, so we need to consider them, see the timing and what we’d be allowed to do. Unfortunately, that is the situation we have to deal with,” Commisso told Radio Bruno.

Fiorentina: Caceres yes, De Paul...

Former Juventus defender Martin Caceres is set to join Fiorentina, while they will make a late push for Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul.

Tuttomercatoweb reports Fiorentina will rubber-stamp Caceres’ arrival during a meeting with his agent Davide Lippi this morning.

The Uruguayan, who turned 32 in April, should sign a two-year contract with the Viola.

As for De Paul, TMW adds the Tuscans have resumed their pressing for the attacker after they made fresh contact on Tuesday.

Official: Parma sign Pezzella

Parma have officially signed Udinese left-back Giuseppe Pezzella on loan with obligation to buy for €4.5m.

Pezzella’s move comes as no surprise, with links between him and Parma first surfacing over a month ago.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Genoa.

However, he played just five Serie A games and the Grifone subsequently passed up their €7m option to buy.

Fiorentina talks for De Paul

Rodrigo De Paul was benched by Udinese because of Fiorentina talks, but it’s reported the €25m offer is still a long way off their €35m asking price.

The Argentina international was surprisingly left on the bench for last night’s 1-0 Serie A win over Milan, although he did come on as a substitute and promptly provided the assist for Rodrigo Becao’s goal.

Milan back to square one

Milan fans and even Marco Giampaolo so disheartened by defeat to Udinese that they’re going back to the drawing board, writes Kaustubh Pandey.

Milan started the season with not so much a step backwards as a stumble and accidental backflip. After their first official 90 minutes, Marco Giampaolo was already wondering aloud whether he should scrap the 4-3-1-2 system entirely and start from scratch. There was certainly little of the new-look Rossoneri on show in Udine.

De Paul set for Fiorentina

Fiorentina are on the verge of a €30m deal for Udinese star Rodrigo de Paul, with Giovanni Simeone or Marco Benassi possibly heading the other way.

Tuttomercatoweb and Sportitalia both report an agreement is close to being found for €25m plus €5m in bonuses.

However, they do not rule out a player being included in the transaction to possibly lower Fiorentina’s outlay.

The counterparts in question are Simeone and Benassi, although the former is rated difficult, whereas the latter could only move if Seko Fofana leaves Udinese.

Giampaolo: 'I can't change Milan players'

After one competitive game, a 1-0 defeat to Udinese, Marco Giampaolo concedes Milan need a complete tactical overhaul. “We need them in their natural roles.”

The 1-0 loss at the Dacia Arena highlighted a toothless display without a single Rossoneri shot on target.

“Aside from the result, because losing is never good, clearly the game didn’t give me many positive indications,” Giampaolo told Sky Sport Italia.
