Serie A survival state of play

The final day of the Serie A season is going to be vital for the futures of several clubs, with Genoa, Fiorentina and Empoli all at risk of relegation.

Udinese, who are on 40 points, are already safe due to their better head-to-head record against the other teams, as are Bologna  - courtesy of their 3-3 draw with Lazio on Monday.

Maran: 'Cagliari can be satisfied'

Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran believes that seeing some of the big names sitting below them in the table means his side “have had a good season.”

The Rossoblu welcome Udinese to the Sardegna Arena tonight for their final game of the year with both teams assured of playing in Serie A next term.

“Looking at the teams below us, our position in the table means we must have had a good season,” he said at his Press conference.

Milan Primavera youth team relegated

There were some shock outcomes to the Primavera youth team season, as Milan and Udinese were relegated, while Juventus missed out on the play-offs.

The Rossoneri conceded a last-gasp equaliser against Fiorentina that sent them down to the Primavera 2 division along with Udinese.

Genoa and Empoli will go head-to-head in the playout to see who joins them there next season, as the Grifone lost to Sassuolo.

As for the trophy, there were surprises here too, as Juventus failed to even make the play-offs, finishing in eighth place.

Andreazzoli: 'Empoli and Inter happy'

Empoli Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli puts sentiment aside against Inter and his old colleague Luciano Spalletti. “I hope at the final whistle we can both be happy.”

Iran calling for Stramaccioni?

Former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni has reportedly received a huge offer from Iranian side Esteghal.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the lucrative offer would commit Stramaccioni to Esteghal for the next three years.

The website adds the club will meet his camp this weekend to try to convince the 43-year-old into making the move.

‘Strama’ was considered one of Italian football’s most promising young Coaches after he guided Inter’s Primavera side to glory in the precursor to the UEFA Youth League in 2012.

'Napoli have De Paul competition'

Rodrigo de Paul’s agent has revealed that Napoli are ‘keen’ on the Udinese winger – but so are other clubs.

De Paul is widely expected to leave Udinese this summer after three years with the Friuli, and Radio Kiss Kiss asked Leandro Pereiro about the Argentine’s future.

“Napoli are keen on De Paul, but other clubs are also after him,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“For now, we’re weighing up the best solution, from both a sporting and financial point of view.

Serie A Week 38 referees

The referees for Serie A Week 38 have been announced, with Daniele Orsato handed the relegation playout between Fiorentina and Genoa.

The two sides will be playing to stay up on Sunday, with Genoa in 18th place and Fiorentina only three points above the Grifone.

The two sides are kicking off at the same time as fellow relegation rivals Empoli, whose game against Inter will be officiated by Luca Banti.

Fiorentina lose Montella

Fiorentina will be without Vincenzo Montella for their Serie A decider against Genoa after he was given a two-match ban.

The FIGC ruled on Tuesday that Montella addressed officials with a ‘threatening and intimidating’ attitude, using ‘insulting expressions’ three times and ‘violently punching an advertising board’ as he was sent off during Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Parma on Sunday, which caused slight injury to a steward.
