Trapani, Catania and Siena miss wage payments

Serie B side Trapani, Serie C outfits Siena and Catania have been deferred to the Disciplinary Commission and could be docked points for not paying wages on time.

The FIGC prosecutor received notice from the COVISOC that the three clubs did not pay their employees the February 2020 salary by the March 16 deadline.

Only in Serie A: Cataclysmic Catania

Although not strictly Serie A, Livio Caferoglu remembers when Catania were the catalyst for a series of events in the summer of 2003 that would change Italian football forever...

It was April 12, 2003 and Serie B was on the home stretch. Catania were 16th, in the thick of a relegation battle, and were hosting a Siena side just two points off the top. The match finished 1-1, which did neither team any favours, but there was a problem. Siena had fielded an ineligible player in defender Luigi Martinelli, who was still serving a ban. What should’ve been a simple overturning of the result morphed into mayhem.
