Zaza takes Torino 11

Simone Zaza has changed his Torino shirt number from 91 to 11 after M’Baye Niang and Adem Ljajic were sold.

Niang went to Rennes on loan with option to buy last night, with Ljajic joining Besiktas this afternoon.

Torino released a statement confirming this had freed up Number 11 and allowed Zaza to take over.

This is possible because neither Zaza nor Niang have yet played in the two Serie A games so far this season.

He was brought in by Sinisa Mihajlovic, but failed to find room at the club after Walter Mazzarri took over instead.

Bordeaux and Rennes vie for Niang

M’Baye Niang’s departure from Torino is reportedly inevitable, with Rennes and Bordeaux interested.

The French striker joined the Granata last summer on loan with an obligation to buy, but he fell out of favour once Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was sacked.

New boss Walter Mazzarri has no desire to have the volatile 23-year-old in his squad, reports Tuttosport, so he’ll certainly leave before the end of the month.

Cairo: 'Falque not for sale'

President Urbano Cairo said “never remotely considered” selling Sevilla target Iago Falque, but M’Baye Niang and Adem Ljajic could leave Torino.

The Granata started their Serie A campaign with a last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Roma, beaten by a late Edin Dzeko volley, and face Inter tomorrow evening.

“It won’t be easy, as Inter are a very good team that many consider to be the main challengers to Juventus this season, but we still go there to play open and attacking football,” assured Cairo.
