Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay the full €60m release clause in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer’s contract, as the Bianconeri regret that deal.

The Brazil international was signed from local rivals Torino in the summer of 2022 for €44m plus bonuses.

When he recently extended the contract to June 2028, his agents put in a release clause worth €60m, with Juve at the time thinking that would put off most suitors.

However, they were not considering the economic powerhouse of the Premier League and the Corriere dello Sport points out that Manchester United consider €60m for a 27-year-old Brazilian centre-back to be a positive bargain.

They also hope it can give them the advantage rather than get into a bidding war with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Bremer came to Italy for Torino in 2018 from Atletico Mineiro at a cost of €5.8m, but despite regularly being one of the best defenders in Serie A, he only has four senior caps to his name.

As well as being solid at the back, Bremer also has an eye for goal, finding the net 17 times in 156 Serie A appearances.

  1. Another quality player goes to the PL. At least Serie A should try and get more money – 100m at least.
