Evan Ndicka did not suffer a cardiac issue when he collapsed in Roma’s Serie A clash with Udinese, allowing him to start working towards a return to action.

The 24-year-old Ivorian defender caused panic and distress on Sunday evening, when he collapsed off the ball in the 72nd minute of the match at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine. He was quickly rushed to hospital and the decision was made to abandon the match as a result of the incident.

Ndicka underwent medical tests and observations at the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Udine, where it was confirmed that he hadn’t suffered a cardiac issue. It appears the 24-year-old suffered a collapsed left lung, the club announced in a statement on Monday evening.

Ndicka return

Page seven of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Ndicka will rest at home in the Italian capital for a few days to recover from the issue before gradually returning to training with Roma.

Initial indications suggest that the 24-year-old defender will be able to feature for the Giallorossi again in around three to four weeks, giving him a chance to play against Empoli on May 26th and Milan on May 31st.
