Storari: ‘Buffon is the best’

Marco Storari believes Gigi Buffon is still the best goalkeeper in the world, and discusses Juventus’ aims.

Ronaldo wins 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer to win a second consecutive FIFA Ballon d'Or.

The Portuguese was up against Barcelona's Messi and Bayern Munich's Neuer, both finalists in last year's World Cup.

But his 60 goals in 2014, including a record tally on the way to his side’s Champions League victory, helped the 29-year-old edge out his rivals in the voting, to lift the award for a second consecutive year, and a third time in his career.

The Juventus defender sat down with Tuttosport and said it was “an injustice” that Buffon had never won the Ballon d’Or.

“I’d vote for Neuer this year, especially as he is a new breed of goalkeeper. He starts moves from the back and does incredible things,” said Bonucci.

‘Ballon d’Or difficult for ‘keepers’

Gigi Buffon believes winning the Ballon d’Or will be difficult for Manuel Neuer - because the award doesn’t tend to go to goalkeepers.

Lev Yashin is the only ‘keeper to have been awarded the Ballon d’Or but Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer is in the running for this year’s prize, alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Buffon thinks it’s difficult to see a goalkeeper winning the award.
