Mandorlini: 'Full Verona emergency'

Andrea Mandorlini concedes Verona are “in full emergency mode” amid an injury crisis against Lazio.

Verona injury crisis deepens

Giampaolo Pazzini could be out for three weeks, while Luca Toni, Artur Ionita and Romulo had surgery today.

Verona are in the midst of an injury crisis and still looking for their first win of the Serie A season.

Toni went under the knife today to help stabilise his knee ligament, though the club assures it won’t alter the original prognosis of two months out.

Toni has knee surgery

Verona striker Luca Toni has had an operation on his knee, the club has confirmed.

The 2006 World Cup-winner had previously been ruled out for two months with the injury, but has now undergone surgery to correct the issue.

“Hellas Verona announces that, in light of the clinical diagnosis, the decision was taken to perform surgery on Luca Toni’s knee to encourage stabilisation,” a statement from the Butei announced.

Mandorlini: ‘Inter difficult but…’

Verona Coach Andrea Mandorlini admits Inter will be “difficult” but “we’re not beaten before we start”.

The Nerazzurri have won all four of their Serie A matches this season, while the Butei are yet to get off the mark.

“We’re facing a strong team,” Mandolin conceded in his pre-match Press conference.

Toni brace in Verona test

Luca Toni scored twice as Hellas Verona were held to a 2-2 friendly draw by Al Jaish.

The Gialloblu played this game on their final full day of pre-season training in Austria.

Veteran hitman Toni was already on form, earning and converting the opening penalty on the stroke of half-time.

The 37-year-old Capocannoniere then doubled his tally, finishing off the inside of the boot for 2-0.

Verona ran out of steam towards the end and saw Al Jaish claw back two goals for a draw with Abdulgadir and Mansour.

Toni 'evaluating Verona future'

Capocannoniere Luca Toni will “evaluate my future with Verona” next summer, by which point he’ll be 39 years old.

The veteran hitman was still more prolific than anyone else last term, topping the scoring charts alongside Inter’s Mauro Icardi with 22 goals.

“The last two seasons have gone well and I did important things in the Verona jersey, first coming second and then top of the Capocannoniere charts,” Toni told Sky Sport Italia.

New Hellas Verona striker Giampaolo Pazzini reveals his 'lively arguments' with former Milan Coach Filippo Inzaghi induced him to leave.

Pazzini fired up for Verona

Verona President Maurizio Setti reveals how he signed Giampaolo Pazzini – thanks to a Luca Toni family get-together.

“I am incredibly fired up and with this enthusiasm we’ll do great things,” Pazzo told fans.

“I thank the President and hope together we’ll be able to have many satisfying moments.”

The striker was a free agent after his contract with Milan expired and was presented as a new Hellas Verona player on Friday.

Pazzini set for Hellas Verona

Milan forward Giampaolo Pazzini appears to have agreed a four-year contract with Hellas Verona.

Sport Mediaset claim that the striker has agreed terms for a move that should finally get him regular playing time.

‘Il Pazzo’ is a free agent, as his contract with the Rossoneri is due to expire on June 30.

He will turn 31 in August and this term scored five goals in 28 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, but very rarely started a match.

Official: Toni renews with Verona

Luca Toni has extended his Verona contract until June 2016 - ‘I’m thrilled to continue this great adventure’.

The veteran striker was Serie A top scorer this year, his 22 goals allowing him to share the Capocannoniere crown with Inter’s Mauro Icardi.

The World Cup winner had been linked with a move the the A-League in Australia, but has instead renewed his contract with the Butei.

“Hellas Verona FC informs that it has officially renewed and extended the contract of Luca Toni,” a statement announced.
