PSG, Roma eye Castrovilli

French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Roma are keeping tabs on Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli.

The 22-year-old has caught the eye with some impressive performances in what is his first season in Serie A.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio states that Ligue 1 behemoths PSG are now scouting the player.

Di Marzio says that an official from the French side was present during Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw against Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Monday to view the player.

Conte: 'Broke Premier League taboo'

Conte gunning for record

Inter boss Antonio Conte is aiming to equal his own record for best start to a Serie A season, set with Juventus in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Inter travel to the Stadio dall'Ara to face Bologna this afternoon, and if Conte's side emerge victorious, it would equal his best start to a season in his coaching career.

A win would give Conte 28 points from 11 games. This would equal his current record, which he gained when boss of Juventus in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Bari back in League football

Bari are a League team again after winning promotion to Serie C on Thursday.

The runaway leaders of Serie D Group I clinched the title with two games to spare, courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Troina.

Bari were expelled from Serie B last summer due to financial irregularities but were re-founded by Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Ex-Bari and SA star Masinga dies

Former Salernitana, Bari and South Africa forward Phil Masinga has tragically died at the age of 49.

He had been in hospital since December as his cancer took hold and was struggling financially in recent years.

Masinga was a legend in his home country, scoring 18 goals in 58 caps for South Africa.

He spent four years in Italy playing for Salernitana in 1997, then going on to Bari until the summer of 2001.

His other clubs were Jomo Cosmos, Mamelodi Sundows, Leeds United, St Gallen and Al-Wahda.

Backing Bari: Excursion to Rotonda

As Bari look to climb back from Serie D, Jeremy Bowling documents their journey - in part one,  the Galletti visit bottom of the table Rotonda.

Round 16 of Girone I in Serie D concluded with SSC Bari moving 11 points clear of the field after a rather laborious 2-1 win over foot of the table Rotonda. A triumph for vintage Bari with evergreen Ciccio Brienza and Valerio Di Cesare scoring. The latter producing a fine left foot drive in the final minutes.

So “Campioni d’Inverno” is the cry as La rinascita continues apace, with the team having won 13 and drawn three of its fixtures so far.

Cassano eyes sporting director role

Former Italy star Antonio Cassano has confirmed his intention to become a sporting director and would ‘absolutely’ work at Sampdoria again.

Cassano has managed to stick out his latest retirement for little over two weeks, and the 36-year-old revealed he would re-enrol on a course at Coverciano after dropping out in September.

De Laurentiis: ‘Bari will be Rocky’

Luigi De Laurentiis says “my Bari will be like Rocky Balboa”, and hopes to face Napoli in Serie A.

Partenopei owner Aurelio bought Bari in the summer, but has handed the day-to-day running of the club to his son.

“My father had a brilliant idea, because he saw exactly what he’d identified 14 years ago when he took over Napoli,” De Laurentiis Jr told the Corriere dello Sport.
