The runaway leaders of Serie D Group I clinched the title with two games to spare, courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Troina.

Bari were expelled from Serie B last summer due to financial irregularities but were re-founded by Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Backing Bari: Excursion to Rotonda

As Bari look to climb back from Serie D, Jeremy Bowling documents their journey - in part one,  the Galletti visit bottom of the table Rotonda.

Round 16 of Girone I in Serie D concluded with SSC Bari moving 11 points clear of the field after a rather laborious 2-1 win over foot of the table Rotonda. A triumph for vintage Bari with evergreen Ciccio Brienza and Valerio Di Cesare scoring. The latter producing a fine left foot drive in the final minutes.

So “Campioni d’Inverno” is the cry as La rinascita continues apace, with the team having won 13 and drawn three of its fixtures so far.

Serie B appeal to Government

An appeal from five clubs has been sent to the Italian Government in a bid to resolve the chaos around Serie B, but Virtus Entella wouldn’t sign it.

The situation is reaching critical point after a series of conflicting and contradictory legal rulings.

This chaos erupted over the summer when Avellino, Bari and Cesena went bankrupt, but rather than replace them with sides from Serie C, the FIGC and Lega Serie B opted to simply reduce the division to 19 clubs.
